Unfair lack of patience when a guy does sod all for 4 years?.
Thats is so not true son.

Statistically scoring 6 goals in 4 years doesn't look good. But rewind the clock back did WAZZA really begin to look poor IMMEDIATELY after EURO 04?. No he didn't, signs of him not looking himself for ENG began after the 06 WC after the Ronaldo incident.

Perhaps he's trying to break Beckham's run of doing sod all for even longer.
Becks only looked woeful between EURO 04 to WC 06 though.

Thats rather a long period of time tbh.

aussie: If people are allowed to criticise Lampard then they're allowed to criticise Rooney. Get over it. They're in the same boat, the two of 'em - both perform very well for club but rarely for country. That's just the way it is. Both are indeed very good talents and have the potential to perform exceptionally for their nation but both quite simply don't do that very often. Hopefully they'll step up more and more now, but we can't expect them to not be analysed. Even Ronaldo is criticised when he doesn't carry a game, even Kaka when he's missing.
Not debating that they shouldn't be analysed, but when people go overboard with their criticism of him then it gets annoying. Since i personally have never lost faith in Rooney.

Unlike Lampard or Gerrard i never felt Rooney has ever gone "Missing". Lamps & Stevie G for ENG alot of the times look a shadow of the commanding mid-fielders they are for their clubs.

Rooney on the other while struggling to be a regular goal-scoring threat for ENG mainly due to ENG very indecisive mid-field play between WC 06 to Andorra (compared to the fast paced one touch passing he has at United) you still see Rooney all over the plays looking for something even helping out in defense.

Would like one example of a match when that was the case, for I really cannot think of one single match when both of them have looked good whilst playing for England.

Where I see your point Rubble, many people in the country harboured the opinion that Steve McDonut was not good enough to be England manager from the word go, and I think you'll be hard to pushed to find anyone who would accuse them of being wrong in holding such an opinion.
Yeah, true, but all I mean is that none of us really have a clue as to what being England manager is like. It's one of the most stressful jobs in the world, no doubt, so it makes sense that only a few individuals would be up to it.

Reading Capello's Mind

Thats basically what i've been doing after analysing last nights game, the potential players who can make it better .

This is what reckon should be our line-up once all are fit & WC Squad in 2 years along with a list of premiership pro's (subject to change) who i reckon if in the case of major injuries could do a decent job if called up & the young talent that i am very impressed with,
that could play a part come 2010 or are strictly next generation players.

FORMATION: 4-1-2-3

Code:
                                                          James*

Brown* Ferdinand Terry A Cole

                                                         Hargreaves

                                          Rooney Gerrard*

Walcott Heskey J Cole
Walcott & Cole on flanks excites me we should scrap the friendly in Munich in Novemeber & tackle Spain or Italy.

Of course, this could look like a 4-5-1, 4-2-1-3, 4-4-1-1, 4-1-2-1-2 or even the simple 4-4-2 that won last night. But i feel roles are set out much evenly in this formation & the boys can play at their best especially in mid-field.

Brown* - For now he has impressed me enough to stay has first choice RB with
Richards (if plays at RB at Citeh because i honestly feel Capello see's in as a CB) & Johnson being his main challengers.

James* - Needs to look a bit more sturdy in the big games, since he faces big challenge from Green & Foster especially in the next 2 years.

Gerrard* - Him a Lamps should & can rotate based on form in the above formation.

POSSIBE 2010 WC SQUAD

GOAL-KEEPERS:

1. David James
2. Ben Foster
3. Robert Green/Chris Kirkland

DEFENDERS:

4. John Terry* - Captain
5. Rio Ferdinand
6. Jonathan Woodgate/Ledley King
7. Micah Richards
8. Ashley Cole
9. Wayne Bridge
10.Wes Brown/Glen Johnson

MID-FIELDERS:

11. Steven Gerrard
12. Owen Hargreaves
13. Frank Lampard
14. Gareth Barry
15. Michael Carrick
16. Joe Cole
17. Theo Walcott
18. David Bentley
19. Ashley Young

STRIKERS:

20. Wayne Rooney
21. Michael Owen
22. Emile Heskey
23. Dean Ashton

Note: Although Becks career on the Right is over, i reckon their could be hope for a place if he reinvents himself into a central role & uses his passing ability in the middle of the park then maybe he could challenge someone like Carrick for place. If not unfortunately for the great man his time is up.

USEFUL PREMIERSHIP PRO'S:

Matthew Upson
Joleon Lescott
Luke Young
Stephen Warnock
Nick Shorey
Scott Parker
Joey Barton
Shaun Wright-Phillips
Matthew Taylor
Peter Crouch

TALENTED YOUNGSTERS:

Joe Hart
Steven Taylor
Leighton Baines
Mark Noble
Fabrice Maumba
Michael Johnson
Aaron Lennon
Gabriel Agbonlahor
Daniel Sturridge

Oh well hoping someone finds something wrong expect my boy sledg hehe..

Your Goalkeepers are utter dross. A 40 year old David James?! Have we not learnt from Seaman in 2002? Green/Hart + one of Kirkland/Foster/Martyn/Christ anyone, not like we'll use them.

Agbonlahor needs to be in that squad, ahead of Ashton probably.
Muamba for Carrick, because he's talented, better than Carrick and mainly because it'll wind you up.

I'm not saying people shouldn't criticise, just that when their team wins 4-1 away from home against a decent team and their first instinct is to look for thei negatives, they're watching football for the wrong reasons.
Agree in parts, said similar about Liverpool fans recently. BUT there is nothing wrong with looking to the next game, and saying "that was great, but..."

Well, thank **** the international week is over, even if it wasn't as depressing as normal.

Zola going to the Irons is an interesting story. Must admit I was thinking the Icelandic backers were going to leave them in the lurch with the sells of Anton and McCartney, but you'd of thought Gianfranco wouldn't of come in unless there was money available for the transfer window. Steve Clarke wants to leave Chelsea to go there too:-O

It's got to be better then the interchangeable Alans, hasn't it?

Of course. You've got to tread the line between optimism and complacency. That's why international management is so difficult. You've got to convince the players that not everything is going 100% well, whilst in fact trying to make sure that it is.

Concur.

Scousers tomorrow, decidedly nervous about this one.
Should be interesting with your new £30m striker and I am looking forward to Robinho's debut. My tip is that he will have a cry at the end of this season to try and get his 'dream' move to Chelsea.

Doubt Berbatov will start, Fergie has said he'll be involved but he was careful not to say starting, but then again it could be a smokescreen.

Love it if he comes off the bench to nick the 94th minute winner.

On paper we should win, but there's the nagging thought that they're due a win against us.

Nagging thought that without Torres & Gerrard things could go pearshaped for Liverpool as well :(

Will be interesting to see if Reira gets a start as well.
