Jesus Christ.Spanish international Antonio Puerta has died. Puerta, 22, suffered a heart attack during Sevilla’s opening La Liga clash with Getafe on Saturday. His condition was apparently improving on Monday, where UEFA had said that he was ‘stable’ but unfortunately that soon deteriorated.
Sevilla’s Champions League clash with AEK Athens has been put back by a week whilst the club mourn the death of one of their star players, who last May scored the decisive penalty, as Sevilla retained the UEFA Cup in Glasgow.
Absolutely terrible news, RIP..

Apparently Puerta had been feeling dizzy throughout training in the build up to game and according to Sevilla’s Brazilian striker Luis Fabiano, Puerta had collapsed before the game but was able to get up and shake it off. Some reports have suggested he has been showing signs of dizziness for up to two years but he had only recently passed his pre-season medical and was regularly tested and monitored without any signs of a heart conditions.Jesus Christ.
You just don't think supremely fit blokes of 22 have heart attacks. RIP.

Yeah RIP, thoughts go out to his family.Jesus Christ.

Tragic, RIP Puerta. It's quite surprising that nothing was picked up earlier from the sounds of it.Apparently Puerta had been feeling dizzy throughout training in the build up to game and according to Sevilla’s Brazilian striker Luis Fabiano, Puerta had collapsed before the game but was able to get up and shake it off. Some reports have suggested he has been showing signs of dizziness for up to two years but he had only recently passed his pre-season medical and was regularly tested and monitored without any signs of a heart conditions.
What’s even more tragic is that Puerta’s other half is pregnant and he was due to be a father (for the first time) in the coming weeks.
Are we talking about Bruce Lee or an Olympic champion? No, some guys playing football. There's nothing to suggest it is happening more 'these days' than it has in the past.On the back of Puerta's death, there was almost a similar tragedy in a Carling Cup tie last night.
Seems like too much of this is happening these days. Maybe players are too physically fine-tuned and therefore have very volatile hearts.
Basketball players spring to mind. The stress is a factor obviously but there are far better athletes around than footballers as I said.
