*Official* English Football Season 2007-08

GIMH

Norwood's on Fire
Left the dinner table without finishing his sprouts I heard. :-O Crown Prosecution Service intending to apply for death penalty.

Nah, he twatted some punter outside a MackieD's in Liverpool I think. Refused bail as he's already on bail ahead of his assault case due in June for punching that French lad whilst at Citeh.
He should be given an MBE rather than a sentence, it should happen more often, honestly just full of *****, people telling you they have blades all the time etc (drunk)

:(

From the BBC.

Tragic stuff, obviously. Poor guy. Thoughts with his family obviously.
RIP. :(

As for the Prem football - United were ****e, Arsenal were pretty lucky given the 2nd was handball and the 3rd was... well. Chelsea similarly lucky, and no-one seems to have noticed that Middlesbrough's goal was miles offside, too (though, on second thoughts, he may have been behind the ball, can't remember).

Robinson made me laugh yesterday, screaming at his defenders to 'get out of my ******* way'..... Try not jumping into the back of them, ******. Flapped aimlessly at Readings' 2nd too, though both Kitson's goals were peaches.

We were shocking, wasteful. The hammers deserved to win. Never been a happy hunting ground that one.

Shaggy Alfresco

State Captain
tbh I'd hardly call it brilliant attacking football, its more of "reasonable attacking against a pretty poor defence".
We've scored 41 goals this season, I wouldn't call us brilliant but we're certainly good going forward.

Our defense absolutely awful, however. Robinson hasn't been too flash in goal and we've been plagued by injuries.

I think blaming him for the 2nd is a tad harsh - with the way the ball was headed downwards from close range and bouncing I think that would have been quite a lot of keepers. Definitely awful for the first goal though.

BARNES OUT
Marry me, Richard Dunne.

Just looking at transfer rumours, we better bloody get a 2nd CF to partner Bojinov. Seems to be a few floating around re: Michael Owen, which would be ace.

We've got a great attacking and creative midfield, if we can get a few quality strikers on the park I really think we can push for the Champions League, especially considering how awesome our defence is. Vassell and Bianchi aren't much cop against a good defence.

I used to rate this guy, but nowadays he's a complete liability, overweight and everything, got to be axed by capello.
Hopefully but only for an Englishmen. None of this Manuel Almunia bollocks, who was Christened by the media as Manuel from Fawlty Towers not so longer but now his got the Gazza HIV positive look his suddenly a brilliant stopper.

If he qualifies, then i say play him. No point overlooking people that are in some form.

He's not that good, TT Boy is right in saying that not long ago he was universally rated as rubbish. And he's not even been that good this season, though he's been better than I expected admittedly.

Compared to Paul Robinson who has been way off this season and Scott 'i fluffed up my England chance' Carson he's the best option.

The others like Ben Foster/David James/Chris Kirkland are out mainly due to being not good enough or too old.

Only other person i'd want to see given a go is Rob Green, but even then his class is questionable.

Green has at the very least been Almunia's equal this season, and unlike Almunia has actually performed well prior to this season.

I personally don't rate Almunia all that highly. Decent-ish shot stopper, but is prone to drop the odd bollock (his penalty save v the Spuds masked the fact he was beaten at his near post for their goal) and still seems to prefer to punch rather than catch crosses, as is the continental wont. Like my keepers a couple of inches taller too.

However, given the alternatives, he's possibly amomgst (or will be once he's done his residence) the best 3 or 4 English-qualified keepers currently, so is as worthy of a shot as anyone.
