*Official* English Football Season 2006-07

Don't you guys have a trip to Russia to make? That seals it IMO.
Yeah, that's our penultimate game; not one of the four "must wins" tho. Our next four decide our fate: Estonia home & away, Israel home, Russia home. If we don't pick up 12 points there we're out IMHO.

Haha. Nowhere near international class, Nugent is easy as good and is scoring goals regularly.

Emile Heskey? ;)
Heskey > Johnson, IMO.

And I've always thought Darren Bent got incredibly hard done by at international level - given that Johnson must have about seven caps by now and has done absolutely nothing whatsoever, Bent's 45 minutes (in which he performed perfectly adequately) should not have been his last appearance.

If we don't qualify for Euro 2008 it will, IMO, be one of the most embarrassing points in the history of English football. We have a side packed with world class players, yet we just aren't any good. Ridiculous, really.

Presumably due to the fact that those players are not really world class?

Bent's injured just now tho, isn't he? I thought Nugent was his replacement in the squad. I'd disagree he performed adequately too; he looked out of his depth for me. Pace will get you so far in the Prem, but his iffy first touch let him down v Uruguay. He'll get other chances tho due to paucity of other viable alternatives.

TBF, Owen & Rooney (respectively crocked permanently & permanently mardy-arsed nowadays) the sad fact is that we don't really have any other international class strikers. Johnson is a solid Prem striker (like Bent he's pacy with dodgy technique), Crouch & Defoe aren't regular starters for their teams & Ashton is injured as well as untested & unproven at the highest level.

Ugh, sick of seeing this media style garbage regurgitated by football fans. All this "must win" crap and writing people off after a couple of games and so on. England are highly likely to qualify if they win 4 of their remaining 6 games, particularly if they take points off Russia and Croatia or they get the odd draw as well. As for Russia away, Russia have already dropped 4 points at home, so it's not an automatic defeat like some are implying.

Heh @ McClaren apparently saying "run him over" twice when a Daily Star journalist walked in front of the team bus he was in.
