Pompey do look like a pile of something brown & steaming this year, I'm afraid. Robert looks quality, as ever, but he'll fall out with Reggie at some point 'cos he's a loon. Only worse team in Prem is Sunderland.Barney Rubble said:A quick canvassing of opinion:
Is there anyone in the world who doesn't think my team (Portsmouth) are going down this year? I'm usually one of the most optimistic fans you'll find, but I really can't see us scraping our way out of it this year. We can't score goals and can't defend. Not helpful.
And Azar Karadas is doing squat-all, I trust?Barney Rubble said:A quick canvassing of opinion:

Actually he's mostly been ****ing us off royally this season - he remains the laziest player in the Premiership by quite some distance (to see him play in the flesh is really quite something - I'm more active in front of my TV on a Monday morning), and his crossing this season has been pretty much aimless (not that he's got much to aim at) rather than pinpoint as it has been in the past. His free kicks (although one flew in against West Brom) seem mostly to hit the wall, and he seems to think that arguing with refs will curry favour with the Pompey fans while we're losing. He seems to think he's proving he cares by whining all the time, whereas we'd rather he rolled up his sleeves and fought once in a while.BoyBrumby said:Robert looks quality, as ever
Yes, Karadas is a load of unadulterated poo.Samuel_Vimes said:And Azar Karadas is doing squat-all, I trust?
(on another note, how does a Zoiderman get to support a Hampshire team?)
I guess that's the prob with only seeing highlights of games, as he's the kinda of player who can pull out something magical he tends to feature quite strongly in highlights packages. Obviously given me the wrong impression. I suppose Berger going to The Villa hasn't helped your cause either.Barney Rubble said:Actually he's mostly been ****ing us off royally this season - he remains the laziest player in the Premiership by quite some distance (to see him play in the flesh is really quite something - I'm more active in front of my TV on a Monday morning), and his crossing this season has been pretty much aimless (not that he's got much to aim at) rather than pinpoint as it has been in the past. The heart seems to have gone from our side - personally, I think selling the Premiership's best captain and one of it's most under-rated defenders before the season even started was a mistake. De Zeeuw is my second favourite footballer of all time, behind Stuart Pearce, and to see the team in such a mess without his leadership and inspirational qualities makes me wonder exactly a) who is running this club - Perrin, or our mysterious Executive Director, Velimir Zajec; and b) what exactly they're trying to do.
If we do, don't expect to see me on this board again - ever. Because I'll be hanging from my curtain rail.BoyBrumby said:Just have to hope you don't pass the Saints en route, eh?![]()
I've got a feeling Pompey might survive this year, I'm not very good at predictions but I reckon it'll be Baggies, Sunderland and someone unexpected to go down.Barney Rubble said:A quick canvassing of opinion:

There's always someone unexpected who gets dragged in - before the season started I thought it might be Hackburn Foulers, but now I reckon Fulham might struggle. The Baconator said:I've got a feeling Pompey might survive this year, I'm not very good at predictions but I reckon it'll be Baggies, Sunderland and someone unexpected to go down.
To be honest the whole Abramovich thing really bored it up for me, because how is anyone supposed to compete with a team which can do whatever it wants? Having said that, I'll happily support Chelsea in Europe unlike Arsenal and Liverpool.Langeveldt said:I rather half heartedly follow the premiership and have hardly watched it at all this season, was just wondering why its considered to be overly boring these days? Have heard lots of people remarking about it. Isn't it supposed to be the best league in the world?
The CL is only entertaining because the arrogance of some of Europe's bigger teams gets exposed by smaller teams with better managers. The matches themselves are by and large just as negative and defensive as the Premiership, if not more so. Teams just go away from home and play for a 0-0 draw immediately, and because mistakes are more regularly punished, teams are more afraid of making them, even at home - it's as if none of the players have any confidence any more.Tom Halsey said:The CL is still very entertaining however.
yeah, sounds like a plan, hopefully craig will have taken that literally.aussie said:yo get of my case, if you have a problem with it complain to james and tell him to BAN me. Here let me help you

Wouldn't totally agree with that. The standard of play is a lot better than domestic leagues and their are generally a fair amount of goals. The fact that teams are sometimes v cautious means in order for there to be goals the quality of play must be that much better.Barney Rubble said:The CL is only entertaining because the arrogance of some of Europe's bigger teams gets exposed by smaller teams with better managers. Yeah, fair point. I guess we'll see as the season unfolds.twctopcat said:Wouldn't totally agree with that.
