I notice that Kent have finally dropped Denly - it was only a matter of time really.

Just looking at the Kent - Somerset game again, four Somerset bowlers have conceded under 7 an over this season which is pretty good in this form of the game. And Alfonso Thomas has been outstanding - 16 wickets at 11 in his seven games. Didn't do too badly in his one outing for South Africa (three years ago) come to that.

I went to the Oval yesterday - supposedly a 'treat' for my eight-year old son.

It was so poor. Not just Surrey, who were pitiful, but the whole experience. Two years ago, the ground was packed. This year, it was about a quarter full, and I'm guessing it wasn't only because people preferred to watch Italy vs NZ. No atmosphere at all, with things made worse by the crappy music played whenever a player did anything at all. Had to feel sorry for the cheer leaders parading their art in front of about 50 people in one section of the ground.

As for the game, Sussex won without breaking sweat, which was good as two thirds of the side were home grown. The young spinner Beer bowled particularly well.

I know a few Surrey supporters, as well as myself, who are giving the Twenty20 a miss this year. Not just because of our poor showing in recent years, but in my case it's because I can't get home late at night from the evening games, and I work Sundays. A two hour journey (each way) to watch a 20-over game isn't exactly appealing either.

Another opportunity for us to embarrase ourselves on Sky tonight.
Worcs seem to be on Sky about three times a week at the moment (I don't think I've seen Glamorgan once), not that it's doing them much good. 24-2 after 5.

:-O Simon Jones played for Hampshire today. Didn't go too well, 4 overs, 1-53 but at least he's back playing cricket at last. Hopefully he'll be fit for the 4day stuff. Looks like Davies played a handy knock in that same game too. 60 off 25 balls with 9 fours and 3 sixes. Why isn't he in the England squad?

Oh yeah, Lumb failed again as well......

Good grief we thrashed Notts, wasn't expecting anything from us in 20/20.

Then again we got rid of McKay to the Aussies so our bowling has improved.

Eh?

I do,i am English.:)
FJ, the long-standing running joke on here is that Yorkshire is part of France (I think). Perhaps refers to some long-forgotten treaty. Still waiting for an explanation, and not holding out much hope (but that's part of CW's charm :) ).

Kent out of the Twenty20 I imagine, just leaving me one team to support ... which is nice.
