Sam Hain with a nice ton, dismal first dig killed us though. Clearly a tier or two below Yorkies.

Just 488 runs, 17 wickets and a Gloucestershire win today at Cheltenham. I, of course, went yesterday.

Olly Stone really developing fast for Northants. Has started to put it together in the last few weeks. Would be surprised if he doesn't play for England within a year or two.

Darren Stevens really not looking good in this snazzy kit.

Looks like a man in a mid-life crisis.

Josh Poysden bowled well again. If he keeps performing I would look at him in t20 against Aussies.

Gregory takes 5for, but it's all very hollow because of course he should have been in Cardiff.

Yorkshire's limited overs side seem almost as bad as their first class team is excellent. Maxwell and Finch have flopped. Lees having an annus horribilis - his time will come again. Guess it shows how hard it is to be consistent over every format over the season.

No lions games this season but I thought I put together a team based on this season anyway - possibly for a winter 4 day tour.

Abell, Hales, Leaning, Northeast, Bairstow, Hildreth, Ansari, C Overton, Coles, Miles, Stone (Hain, T Curran, Billings, spinner)

Hildreth having one of his random awesome seasons. 30 now but given the lack of other middle order options standing out (Vince, Taylor) it would probably be wise for him to have one more crack at a lions tour in case England need a middle order replacement who isn't Bairstow. Ansari I reckon will probably make the main England squad this winter to tour the UAE as a spin bowler/allrounder. Stone I reckon is the most complete of the uncapped young bowlers at the moment and will be the man to replace Anderson in time but needs to put it together for more than a month.

Let the likes of Lees, Robson, Taylor, Vince, Roy play and work on their game elsewhere. They've had plenty of lions tours.

Not a bad side, not convinced that Coles or Northeast will be anything but decent county performers, the fact you are picking Abell and Hales show how awful our opening options are at the moment, Mitchell might be worth a shout. T curran definitely deserves a place I think, exciting talent and has definitely surpassed his Surrey team-mate Dunn.

^ Agree with not sending blokes who've had 4/5 Lions tours on them again. Seems pointless.

Scott Borthwick surely has to be in there somewhere? 870 @ 48 as a top order player.

This the same Hales that's a LOI lock and averaging 49 in first class this season? Pretty harsh
Possibly, but his record in his career isn't great, and yes he is a LO lock, never quite sure why though, good T20 player though.

I just think he'd be a disaster in Tests, but who knows, can't be much worse then we've been doing I suppose.

Yeah been good for a couple of years now, playing home games at Durham as well.

The new Hollioakes? Sam bowled Denly with his fourth ball in first-class cricket. Speedy elevation for the lad who only made his T20 debut recently.

Don't know what's up with Balcombe, just a handful of games for the seconds this year.
