I do though hope Chambers plays ahead of Napier, from the little I've seen of him, he looks a talent.
Chambers seems good, lacks great pace, but gets the ball in the generally right area and gets a fair bit of movement. I saw him bowl some pretty good deliveries in the ARCH Trophy highlights on Sky Sports and in the 2008 T20s, although T20 does not appear to be his game, incidentally.

I'm not sure how you can prefer him to Napier though. Napier has really turned the corner, he did well in New Zealand and had a good 2008 CC season.

Derbyshire going alright without their captain, presumably Borrington would have opened as well were he not at university.

Of course they lose a wicket as soon as i say that.

Boje coming in at 4 for Northants, are they that crap a batting side? looks like they are playing about 7bowlers, Wessels down to come in at 5 and Hall at 6

Kolpak central, that match.

I'm cheering for Somerset this year. Good to see them start well, they're going to need to beat teams like Warwickshire.

I was just talking first-class, not Limited overs, actually would rather see both of them over Wright, really.

Boje's batted up the order with great success the last couple of season. Northants have a lot of all-rounders, and he seems to fit into their team quite well there.

I was going to post that Willoughby aside it looks rancid. Though, Turner and Trego can sometimes have their moments. I actually like Turner, very quick, bowls a good full length but he doesn't get the ball to do anything.
Turner's one of the worst bowlers I've ever seen at county level - up there with the Whelans and Andrews of recent seasons. I hope he plays enough to get a real spanking this season and hopefully not play again.

Hmm, his stats last season were skewed by his 226*(though this was batting at 3). He averaged 26 at number 5 and 23 at number 6 . The year before he had 5 innings at number 5. Lets just say i wouldn't be happy with someone like Boje coming in at number 4 for Lancashire...number 7/8 maybe. (he'll score a hundred now obv)

and we will probably have someone equally as poor coming in at 4 for Lancs...so i won't be happy/

but i should probably add that its not necessarily having boje at 4, but the players after him should genuinly be be coming in after him..eg Wessels at 5

The gulf between the two divisions can be seen just by glancing through the teams out today. The batting lineups in the Leics-Northants game are hardly going to scare anybody.

Yeh, I know, haven't seen him bowl in FC cricket though and I doubt his actual bowling is that much different between the forms of the game. Would definitely have both over Wright. Wright's action and trejectory is very similar to Ishant Sharma and he has enough pace, but he just doesn't seem to swing the ball considerably and that definitely hinders him.

Do you know anything about Westfield, he is supposed to bowl 90mph from what I hear but he has had a lot of injuries over the years.

Looks like Schofield is in the side as a batsman and God knows what cricketers Murtaza Hussain got out in Pakistan to get such an impressive average but he did make his first class debut in 1990, so his probably 40 not 34. Andre Nel and when he returns Pedro Collins will have to bowl a lot of overs this year.

Yeah, I haven't seen either in F-C, but you are only given the choice of watching limited overs, mostly, on t'telly, so you have to extrapolate somewhat and also go on hearsay. Not ideal obviously with the different disciplines and conditions of the game. Would be nice if Sky showed more County championship stuff, but it ain't gonna happen, I'm afraid:@.

There really is only one player in that game that has any chance of playing for England in the near future (Panesar) and one that is likely to be a chance in the future (Cobb).

In the Gloucs- Surrey game, Gloucs probably have no England prospects (well, i reckon any chance Gidman had has passed me by and Saxelby is a ginner). Surrey at least can claim a few that will probably pass through selectors thoughts sometime in the future (though some of them that will definitely shouldn't).

Essex-Derbyshire has a few, but mainly ones for the future like Redfern, Mickleborough, Clare along with Foster.

The two first division games have much more 'current' england prospects with Moore, Bell, Trott, Davies, Tremlett, Kabir Ali and Woakes and Dawson for the future.

At least most of the likely lads seem to be playing in the top flight

Hampshire starting the season in style. Dominic Cork was held back until the evening session but has now taken 3-6 on debut to wipe up the tail.

Belly's 80* for Warwickshire, not exactly a terrorising attack though. Trott got a first baller as well. Bell will give England a real dilemma if he makes a few hundreds in the first few CC games. Especially with Shah and Bopara both out playing some Mickey Mouse cricket.

All LBWs too, probably getting that trademark swing to expose the lack of footwork of the lower order batsmen.
