Looks like Michael Vaughan maybe in the wars once more, he retired hurt for Yorkshire in their second innings this afternoon.

Incidentally, Vaughan retired due to a ball which ‘surprisingly’ took off from the bowling of Stuart Clark.

Edit- According to the Beeb, Michael could still bat on but as a precaution went off a ball later.

And out of interest, how do you know that they cost far more?

In fact, how do you know they cost more at all?

Bearing in mind the relative strength of the currencies involved, I'd have thought that a lot of these SA Kolpaks are actually cheaper to employ.
If you have Wisden 2000, read the article "Rich Game, Poor Game" by Stephen Fay.

Aside from that, it's pretty common-sense that imports from foreign lands - whatever they qualify as, overseas, EU-passport or Kolpak - are going to have large costs associated, not merely in increased wages but airfairs, accommodation and the like.

Northamptonshire are moaning about Monty not being available for their OD fixture this weekend - despite the fact he's been allowed to play this game when others that played both the Ashes and WC haven't.

Pretty sure the ECB want him in FC mode for the tests tbh.
Damn right, TBH - let's just hope the WC hasn't damaged his FC mode. As we all know whose fault that would be...

 Quite funny tbh

They've just relaid the pitch at Taunton in an effort to get some life into it.. According to my parents who still live there, it has rained once in two and a half months, which probably doesn't help..
Sounds about right, TBH.

Potential cracked bone in the hand, they reckon.

Which reminds me...

EDIT: thanks guys.

That is indeed true.

Mr Sangakkara will be arriving shortly however...
Read below...

He'll play as a specialist bat (like Andy Flower for Essex) though, surely?
That is indeed the case from what I've heard from a very good source at Edgbaston.

Is there any hope of Ambrose being played at all this summer for the England? 251* is a fair crack for a 'keeper.

I'd not be happy, TBH. I've thought he had potential ever since I first saw him in 2001, but I'm never keen on picking someone for one summer's work, however good that was. As we saw with Geraint Jones after 2003 - he's done near nothing of note for Kent since then.

Not to mention, so far Ambrose has only played a couple of games this season.
