It's just a joke, because of the perceived belief that runs on telly count more in selectors, comms and pundits eyes than ones off it.

Basically, a very small percentage of county games are actually shown on TV, by Sky. A lot of the pundits and commentators don't really follow county cricket as much as they ought to, and only really remember the runs scored on sky. Same with casual fans actually. Therefore runs on telly are much more important, because more people are watching and more people remember, so it makes a bigger impression on people. For example Jos Buttler has a poor FC record but toned up on the only FC game shown on Sky earlier in the season. Thus you got pundits suggesting him to bat six in the test side. And Brumby

Haha, yeah, it's a dilemma. Just like in the CT when people were suggesting promoting guys in the rain effected games, but weren't really thinking about the fact that it would leave Trott as the finisher.

Yeah he can, but I'm thinking more when a couple of wickets go down. Hildy should definitely be next.

He's actually a Somerset player that doesn't do that well on Sky, apart from a couple of times. Probably why he's not lauded

With Kieswetter it feels like he plays within himself and doesn't take many risks now early in his innings to increase his consistency and knowing that he can accelerate and that he can play relatively risk free and still strike at 120sr early in his innings. This works fine at county level where there are a load of average attacks who even if he'll play a few forward defences will give him something to hit after a while. More of a problem at the international level where there are better bowlers and less bad balls - he plays in the same style and thats how he ends up with a strike rate of a 112.

It is the problem with county cricket that there is too much mediocre cricket players and good cricketers like Kieswetter can just coast to tournament top scorer with 371 runs @ 53 @ 135.89 without getting out of their comfort zone or taking too many risks.

Subject to the overriding discretion of the ECB, acting with the consent of the International Cricket Council, a Cricketer will only be qualified to play for England in a Test Match or in a One Day International Match if:

(a) he is either a British citizen or an Irish citizen; and either
(i) he was born within England and Wales; or (ii) he has been resident in England and Wales for the immediately preceding four consecutive years; and

(b) he has not during the immediately preceding four consecutive years either
(i) played cricket for any Full Member Country except England at under 17 level or above, or (ii) played First Class Cricket in any Full Member Country outside England and Wales, except as an overseas cricketer under local rules similar to Regulation 3 above or in any other circumtances approved by the ECB...

Point (b) (ii) would be the issue for Azharullah.
