Power play Score in ODI World Cup History

❤New Zealand vs England 116/2 Wellington 2015❤
target was only 124, rather makes it easier to go for it when the win is not exactly guaranteed but nearly 100%

can't help but think of Norman Wisdom (?) talking to his older mate in the old B&W films, suspect that may have been Grimsdale but similar archaic feeling name
I have a hazy memory of the name Trubshaw that also feels like it comes from that genre.

Edward Chapman was the actor, and it was Mr William Grimsdale to Wisdom's Pitkin - I think I got halfway there or thereabouts a while back in a different context, and looked it up then.

Not sure what some of the trial players for England will gain, do badly and it doesn't bode well, do well and it is only Ireland.... a warm up in similar conditions for the squad would have been better, this is almost like that Pakistan series a year or two ago where players were tried but hardly anyone is a regular or given a go here :

vs PAK 2011
- in this squad/played vs IRE : Crawley, Carse, Salt
- in England frame/squad for WC : Stokes, Malan
- others : Vince, Gregory, Overton (C), Simpson, Mahmood, Parkinson

not exactly progressive thinking, personally I'd have a squad for ODIs and T20is set after each World Cup, 25 or however many players pool to choose from and only pick from those until the squad is revised eg every year or sized split of time between World Cups.

Gives wannabes the knowledge they have their destiny in their own hands when in a squad, hope that next revision they may come in, and less random as England selection almost seems to be like it was for a long time even with spinners coming in like Crane, Parkinson, and others who got odd chance here and there and then drifted out of sight (again) No need for injury replacements with the right size group/squad

The selection of Brook seems to typify the whole approach, fairly ordinary ODI and T20i record, isn't an opener, dumped Roy for him and instead of giving one or both the Ireland series they took Brook out - yes, Roy has unsurprisingly 'retired', I don't blame him given the selection approaches and criticism he gets

Heck of knock from Duckett. Reminds me of Eoin Morgan with the way he uses his wrists and sweeps to find gaps, and has the power in the locker when he needs it. Impressive innings.

Ireland need to have a side in the 50 over competition in England to develop a little bit better.

You could add Ireland and Scotland to the competition

Roy was looking a little over the hill though

he chose to go to the American t20 and rip up his white ball contract

it was always going to leave him vulnerable to be de selected

hes a world champion but time moves on and Brook is the future

I think that would be a great idea if the 50/50 over competition wasn't so severely diminished by clashing with The Hundred.
But Ireland and Scotland competing against counties' first choice sides would be highly worthwhile.

Have they given any indication what the schedule will be like next year? I know T20 finals day is in September and that’s all I’ve officially seen.

It is essentially going to be the same as this, through the blast will be split in two either side of the T20 World Cup.

Presume so. It happened, and the players’ individuals scores will go into their career records. England were playing with batting the 50 overs in mind, it’s not as if the innings had been shortened before it started.

As much as we all enjoyed this series (2 washouts out of 3) and want it to remain fresh in our memories, does it really still need to be a sticky?
