Our bowling has been a real concern for a while now, particularly our death bowling without Archer.

Sam Curran has done the job well on the whole for the T20 side but hasn't been able to replicate that in ODIs.

There's no obvious candidate to fill that role - maybe Topley who has done pretty well on the whole and he should be around for the next WC.

We've tended not to go down the route of using our best test bowlers in white ball cricket - Anderson, Broad and Robinson haven't had a look in for a good while now and thats something we may need to revisit.

Atkinson has looked good but we need the likes of Potts, Tongue etc to really make strides in the next four years as the likes of Woakes & Wood won't be around and Joffra's days looked numbered.

I wonder who the last English bowling debutant was in ODI's who had more List A wickets than FC or T20? That could be Turner....having said that, 10 wickets in 3 FC matches at 10.5 suggest he's got a future there too.
Do List A wickets count for much these days in England, as sides have been weakened by the competition being run at the same time as the ECB's franchise cricket? Turner has only played List A since 2021. Half his first class wickets (for 31 runs) were for a reserve Hampshire side against a Sri Lanka Development side which sone how was granted first class status.

That was kind of my point. The fact that a guy could be about to debut for England by having more List A wickets than anything else is somewhat strange given the current domestic set up. Generally speaking, those playing in the List A comp are a long way off International call ups.

The england list-A comp is basically a 2nd div comp with official list A status isn't it?

It's a full County Competition, but it's on at the same time as The Hundred, so you can guess where all the best limited overs players are. Teams generally seem to be solid County pro's who don't play franchise and a load of youngsters.

Not radically unfair. Some of the stronger counties are pretty much playing their second XIs alongside a few first-class specialists. Weaker counties may be only missing a couple of players from their first choice white ball teams.

Jos loves a chase. Only problem is the batters have to score runs to be successful.

Both captains wanted to chase meaning that it might be easier to bat under the lights.

Anyways, wouldn't be too bad going into the 3rd match tied at 1-1...but we would rather close the series win today!
