Even more players for England who ideally should be battng at 6, 7 or 8. Ali, Woakes, Stokes, Foakes, Pope, Bairstow, S Curran, Buttler.

Can't remember Ben Stokes' last score of 50+ (did he get one against India?) Really needs to get back in batting form. Really don't see him batting as high as no.5 atm.

How has Foakes looked?
Solid and unflashy. His game is more suited than many of the guys in the squad to the conditions. it's noticeable that's he's happy just accumulating and taking the singles when on offer. Nearly everyone else in the team craves the boundaries.

My guess is he would avg 30-35 over a career batting 7 in test cricket.

Talksport's commentary uggh. Nicholas's elitist smuggery and Bumble's ''curry and a pinttt''.

Not watched a ball. This a decent effort? Or well below par?
Are you talking top 6 or tail? Below par top 6, great fightback from 7/8. So normal English innings. Anything close to 300 is probably going to be a winning score.

Very good recovery in general. IMO 300 in SL is a great score, and of course you'd expect the pitch to deteriorate for the 3rd/4th innings
