*Official* England in West Indies

Terrible from England. Most of the team are totally overrated. It really is that simple. They aren't anywhere near as good as some people make out.

If West Indies get through the first session without loss or only one down then its pretty much game over. Even if England win the next two sessions they'll still have a 100+ lead.

Yeah the issue is about the whole team and not about a few scapegoats (Bell, Broad, Panesar.) There is a case for dropping all 3 (obviously Broad shouldn't be in the side) but they are in not entirely to blame. However there are a number of other players whose mediocrity is hidden behind others. Most notably Collingwood who on the whole has been distinctly average the last couple of years and unfortunately Cook, who I do still have faith in. Even Strauss if you take away his great match in India hasn't been all that great.
Then there is the bowling and Steve Harmison who has done next to nothing for England for a number of years, and has been constantly persisted with when other superior bowler (Hoggard) have been unfairly tossed aside.
Still they are not an AWFUL side and I still think we will sneak the series, maybe 2-1.

You seem to be forgetting virtually all of the rest of WI's batting is dire. I'd wait til they've got the runs on the board rather than assume they would automatically add another 150 runs if they got through to lunch with minimal damage.

Would agree with that. The Windies are the best team in the world at going from 1-160 to 239 all out (or something like that). Two quick wickets, one of them being Chanderpaul & England could well have a lead.

They are also only 1 down against a team with an attack consisting of Flintoff and Sidebottom's shadow.

i really hope the windies can pull off a win here-it will teach england not to revolve their whole life around the Ashes.they were seriously overlooking WI and could pay the penalty.

I think the fact that England are a distinctly average team has a lot more to do with that.

Pfft, we're two days into a four-match series and the West Indies are still 150 runs behind. That was absolute ****e from England today but it's not yet time to write obituaries.
Exactly. England found themselves in far worse positions against New Zealand last year only to pull through. The Windies have had a good couple of days but they are still two sessions away from getting to the point where they can put England truly under the pump.

Anyhow, feeble ineffective bowling aside it was nice to see Sarwan back in the runs. He looked pretty good in New Zealand and made some 'wonderful' poor scores before chucking it away.

Sidebottom is bowling at 78-81mph here, we might as well have Hoggard back. As for 'I am fit now but wasn't in India' Harmison, he is managing to get it up to 84mph.

Sidebottom should be discarded to the dustbin if Prior standing up to him continues. Ones of the reason he got back into the side was he had a bit of nip but military medium isn’t going to cut.

If Sidebottom bowls any faster he might be back on the injury list.
Imagine playing a bowler who has only bowled 25 overs (in the warm up game) in six months.
