I'd love to have been drinking for the last 3 hours, but sadly today it's a rare Monday when I'm not. I am, however, feeling a little ill, so perhaps that accounts for my relative lackadaisical-ness.

But it has everything to do with rules. "BOD to batsman"; "BOD to bowler". No similar thing can be ruled that "a team must approach every Test attempting to win".

I'm arguing that teams really should approach every test match with victory in mind, even if their selection errs on the side of caution (as opposed to outright negativity). Otherwise, the test match game will wither and die.

I was also pointing out the lack of consistency in your opinions.

And I'm aware that every Test should be approached trying to win, but it's not possible to write some such thing in the rules.
