The risk with Trott though is:

1. Is he 100% over his mental health issues?
2. His form was iffy before his breakdown....like he got starts but rarely went on with them....after his brilliant start he was worked out IMO.
3. He's opening, which he doesn't have much experience doing.

He'd be beneficial if he does come back well, but I'm skeptical that he does.

1 and 2 seemed linked to me, I don't think he wast really found out he just played inexplicable non-trottlike shots. If he is over his issues I expect those shots to have gone. We'll see, but in the end he's scored the runs in the A team, still got a decent Test average, done everything that was asked of him, deserves another shot IMHO.

If he thinks he can do it, and the appropriate professionals say he can do it, no one else has the right to question that IMO.

He remained good in ODI cricket though. Scored a ton v NZ and had a great Champions Trophy in between scoring no test runs v NZ or Australia. Why would his health issues only seemingly effect him in one format?

Concentration perhaps, no slips too, you can get away with the odd looser shot in ODIs.

WICKET! Peters (22) attempts the big shot, skies one off Broad & Buttler does well to claim running catch moving forward. 58-8. #EngvSKNXI

attempts the big shot, 58/8

I don't think this is much of a side we're playing

Fifties from both Trott and Cook in response. Doubt England will have a second innings so they're taking their time

These games, this tour is a waste of time. How many WI players will the test side be missing due to the IPL? The only thing this series is likely to do is give the England players a bit of false dawn prior to the Summer. Stuart Broad will be proclaiming, "This is the best batting line up I've ever played with" only to be skittled for 100 in the opening test against the Aussies 8-)

These tests are likely to be one sided despite Windies having some promising bowlers.
Disagree. West Indies will compete. They're genuinely good at home.

Lot depends on the team they select though. Hope Dwayne Bravo has sorted his issues out.

Windies are moving towards minnow status every passing year.
