Samaraweera seems to have fallen about six places down the pecking order, for whatever reaosn. He was taken to Australia and played one test, scoring 13 and 20, and since then he has dropped behind Mubarak (lol), Tharanga (vying for a different position, granted) and now Dilshan. People have been talking about Kapu as well. He has an excellent record at home and he really should be playing in this series IMO.
Samaraweera stuck around a lot in those two innings. One innigs he got a scorcher from Johnson, and other innigs he fell to a good catch. Both times looked for the long haul though. Definietly better than Mubarak and even better than Dilshan as a test batsman in my book.

Hasn't it been many years since the tsunami? How come they're rushing to get the stadium ready 2-3 days before the actual match?

He would have been ahead of Dilshan in the pecking over, but he hasn't scored any runs in domestic cricket. Granted they have only played the OD series and his never been a great One Day batsmen. But Dilshan jumped ahead after leading the run scoring this season. Kapu hasn't scored any runs, but his runs against England in the tour match have him ahead. Its been a while since Samaraweera really knuckled down and scored heavy runs for SSC or Sri Lanka A to push for a recall. Basically only made the Australian tour on his experience alone. Basically it comes down to lack of runs.

Unbelievable efforts by the MCC....Am absolutely overjoyed by their Generosity....Good on the guys for helping the poor folk of Seenigama...co sponsored by Ian Botham...Bryan Adams and Murali....:)
Interesting combination there... the Sri Lankan superstar, the England all-rounder of 30 years ago... and the Canadian guitarist-singer-songwriter.
Think you deserve an Inzy for this though. :p

The game will start two hours late in the morning to allow ground staff more time to get the pitch ready. England are thinking of playing two spinners.........when the second best spinner you can find is Swann, you know you've got problems.

This pitch is unknown quantity and could seam around a bit given the lack of preparation and moisture...But one thing is certain - run scoring will become difficult like in the other venues after day 3 and any first innings lead at Galle will be handy...

Have been pretty satisfied with the performance of England this series, every player has played to expectation IMO except for Panesar who well has struggled now in back to back series againts batsmen who play spin well, hopefully he will learn from it & will be made a better bowler. Some of the batsmen should be disappointed not to have gone on to score big centuries though.

Weird situation going into the final test, i understand why it is so important for cricket to be played in Galle but it leaves both sides with a great disadvantage of not knowing what combination should play. Hopefully things work out in England favour since i would hate for them to go home 2-0.

Aside from the five-bowler question (I'd probably go for five myself, though as you I doubt anyone is seriously considering it) you really think there's any chance whatsoever that Broad will currently be ahead of Harmison in the pecking-order? Regardless of batting ability.
In my team he would be

Obviously though there is more chance of Paris Hilton winning Virgin Of The Year Award than the England selectors agreeing.

Knowing Harmisson's luck though he will get an under prepared pitch to bowl on take a few wickets and thus guarantee his selection for the New Zealand series (providing he can hit said under prepared pitch that is).

Saying all that I didn't think he bowled that bad in the last test kept going well under difficult conditions and showed a bit of ticker for once. And I would still select him over Anderson every day of the week.

Kinda looking forward to this when it gets going, haven't seen a match on a dodgy pitch for ages. Hoping I actually bother to get up at 4:30 this time.

England win the toss & bowl.

Afterr the 1st couple of overs it seems to be a good toss to win uneven bounce, swing & seam movement for the bowlers.

Well I just hope that after what Galle went through with the tsunami that this is a great test and a huge success for everyone.

Seems a bit odd to me to win the toss and bowl and allow Murali the chance to bowl at you in the fourth innings when the pitch will probably be turning square.

interesting umpiring decisions
Right 0 Wrong 3 at the current rate if the radio is anything to go by - haven't watched any of yet but will be wandering down towards the TV shortly... however presently I need to get a rather pent-up amount of rage at Sangakkara's selective walking out of my system.

I'm only just reading all this, so bear with me. 2 of the wrongs were Sangakkara edging Hoggard & Tharanga's lbw no? What was the 3rd?

Yup. You'd figure we need to bowl them out for under 150 to justify that particular call, and that doesn't look like happening.
