Yeah, I do. I think he's a handy batsman and a decent enough gloveman. The fact that he played for both Australia and New Zealand must be some testament to that. If Buttler was a Kiwi, however, I'd probably select him over Ronchi, but Ronchi does a job.

No chance if we have Jadeja and Ashwin at 7 and 8 followed by 3 pacers, which might be the case in World Cup as the part-timers like Raina, Kohli are not good enough to bowl 10 overs in Australia/NZ.

So I agree, Buttler would make all ODI teams bar India's. And that's only for team balance reasons.

This is basically what I was saying. He's the bench finisher. Replace Rayudu with Buttler in that squad (or Tiwary, depending on which of the two you rate as a better top order reserve batsman).

Buttler isn't competing with Rayudu or Tiwary for a place; they're primarily top-order bats (and you only need one of them in the 15 as cover). Buttler is a finisher -- he's competing with Dhoni and Raina. If you ordered your best 7 batsmen by ability to play their respective roles, team balance be damned, it would look like this IMO:

3. Rohit
4. Raina
5. Dhawan
6. Buttler
7. Rahane
8. Tiwary
9. Rayudu

Loads of prominent cricket tweeters want England to lose when Cook is captain, so it's fair IMO. Though it is kind of hypocritical of me to hate the former and potentially support the latter.

Yeah but that's the problem isn't it even if he scored 2 off 60 balls and dropped 5 catches and we won, they'd still laud him as a great captain.

In the end I just hope my guys Ravi and Moeen do well, and that's all I'm thinking about, it's working well so far this series.
