Hope this tour is on Foxtel.

I don't know why, but England have always been one my favourite Test teams to watch.

England are only good at Home! Away from home they need alot of improving! They struggle with conditions anywhere else! Another thing is they keep on chnaging there team esp the wicket keepers! How many keepers have england used in the last 3 to 4 years?

Norwood's on Fire
Foster's only played T20 in the last few years though.

To answer the question, the following have kept for England in tests in the last four years:

Geraint Jones
Chris Read
Tim Ambrose
Matt Prior
Paul Collingwod (only for about an innings IIRC)

In ODIs, add Paul Nixon & Eoin Morgan to the list and in T20 add Vikram Solanki and James Foster, I think that should be everyone

So ignore the woeful series against Australia then, and select him regardless?.

He's a crap fielder and mediocre batsman who adds very little to the team, so drop him to try other options (who are better than him).
If you want to drop Shah from the starting XI as i said before for the running & fielding woes fine (although i dont 100% agree). But dont drop him from the ODI squad entirely when you are going to call up Cook who has no ability in ODI cricket.

Also completely ignoring the improvement in Cook's performances over the past few months.
Please explain to me how making runs againts these horrific Durham & Hampshire bowling attacks can be used as a guide to recall Cook to ODI side when he has proven to be ODI failure & not equipped for that format. That attack is such a horrible guide, i'm sure even Bopara in his shocking form may have scored runs againts those attacks.

If Gooch as he "claims" is trying to improve Cook's OD batting i'd want to see a FULL seasons or two of such batting domestically. While hopefully in that period of time given the inept standard of domestic OD bowling, he would score runs againts a country attack thats close to international quality - THEN consider him.

So Cook with his apparent years of mediocre performances averages a whole 0.04 yet Shah isn't mediocre?

Or maybe because it makes your argument completely and utterly impotent.
Geez when you make these comments, i got to wonder how closely you have followed the ODI side in recent years, since this is nothing more than a blind stats argument.

So what if Cook's overall aerage is 30 & its fairly close to Shah. Did you not see Cook's SR.

Plus good god, its pretty obvious with Shah that between 2001-2006 he was in & out of the
ODI team with no settled position. If you want to guage his full value of an ODI batsmen you have to judge from his recall vs WI 07 to now in which as i showed you before where he averaged 35.

This is very stupid comparison, based on this logic you will be telling me Ken Barrington is just as good as Gary Sobers because their averages are so close.

I will agree that perhaps Cook was almost definitely not an ideal choice as a replacement if you want to talk about replacing Shah, I think Trott has also been added to the squad and Denly has been retained (for 8-) no apparent reason) So there are plenty of scapegoats who could have gone out of the team, I don't think Cook is the person who should be attacked for playing himself into form against weak opposition, runs are runs. It is better than Denly who has been struggling for runs, I would have been an advocate of him(Denly) staying if he managed a few 30's, this was not the case. I think if he does not score in this series, as tough a series as it is, he should be discarded back to county cricket.

However if you consider the selectors lines of thinking and the captains, if Cook does succeed, it makes their job easier, the test vice captain is in the one day team and if Strauss does retire in a couple of years, Cook becomes a decent one day player, they have found a new man at the helm.

Been emailing Fox Sports for the last two weeks about showing this in Australia. "Fiona's" response has changed from 'Maybe highlights' to 'Probably most of it live'.

Assuming that there are more nerds like Cribb and I out there being persistent.

Hahaha awesome. You're clearly better at this than me - you got it shown live and I got my email blocked by their system.
