Not really thought about it before, but both Cook AND KP went through periods of about 20 months without a ton in any format.

Cook's test average in that period was 32, with 10 tests against a really good Australian side: Batting records | Test matches | Cricinfo Statsguru | ESPN Cricinfo

KP's was two less matches, averaged 36, but also had some weaker attacks, such as four games v Bangaldesh where he averaged nearly 70: Batting records | Test matches | Cricinfo Statsguru | ESPN Cricinfo

Both were horse **** in ODIs.

So they weren't that different really. All the KP brigade saying Cook should've been dropped and double standards etc should do well to remember that.

lol Nah, Faf has no clue what he's doing in the test matches, he let the comments he made himself get to him which is the most hilarious thing ever.
?

In India maybe. But not generally. The guy has been a jet in tests to date.

Yorkshire 'scratching heads' over Plunkett omission | Cricket | ESPN Cricinfo

Yorkshire always complaining. Complain when their players get selected, complain when they don't.

I don't see why Jordan is being vilified by people. England have a group of average bowlers as backup. Woakes, Jordan, Plunkett, (Footitt). They're all basically the same to me. Some strengths, some weakness, none proven at international level.

The writing should have been on the wall for Plunkett when Patel played the last test in India.

It did actually work both ways though. The Cook brigade constantly kept saying KP deseeved the axe anyway because he was done as a test cricketer. Neither side realised that KP and cook were both ****e.

I wouldn't have put KP past having a Cook-like resurgence at all.

KP is about five years older than Cook

Going to be a cracking series, I think.

South Africa should take it, but England always play hard against us.

I'm going to the first three days of the Newlands Test, and hope to go to at least a day of each of the Tests at Jo'burg and Centurion.
I am leaving these frosty shores 30 Dec and will be at all 5 days of Newlands Test. I have made my own travel arrangements and will be staying at Kalk Bay. Is it as nice as it looks on line? I have never been before.

Kind of convinced my old man months ago that going to the Newlands test would be a good idea. Of course nothing happened.

Story of my life.

I don't know Cape Town that well - I'm from Jo'burg and have only been to Cape Town about four times. As I recall Kalk Bay is quite nice though, there's a nice little harbour where they sell excellent fish and chips.

I'm staying in town myself - really looking forward to it. Cape Town is a great city and Newlands is an amazing ground.

How can it be sold out and tickets go on sale the 7th? I don't understand the logic here.

Edit: Nevermind, it's for the temporary seating.

Edit: Edit: Looks like Day 3 is also sold out and day 4 and 5 are close. This is insane. :S
