I rate Piedt.

How is this a lollapse?

We are 313 in front and on each of the last 2 days we have seen 6 wickets go in the morning session. Normal first session so far.

Root has got a serious conversion problem. The last four times he's past 50 he's got out caught by slip or keeper in the 70s or 80s. It's just not good enough for a player of his class, it's so frustrating to watch him bat so well after being dropped by AB only for him to edge an innocuous delivery.

It's difficult to make a serious case that Root is better than Smith or Williamson if he keeps throwing away potential tons.

Perhaps start by building a case of why he's 'as good as Smith & KW' before jumping to 'better than'.

Lolapse or not, still a commanding lead by England even if bowled out now. If the can sneak past 350, it's 80/20 England.

He is a good player, can't have scored the runs he did in CC without being one. It was all a case of whether he could take it into international cricket or not. He may be starting to do that.

If you do that you lose equity on win %. We know the South Africans like a good stonewalling anyway.

Been a good session that, another half hour or so after lunch to get 400 in front then we should get bowling. They won't chase that and won't even attempt to.
