Would you straight up drop one of them? I'm not sure the bowling strong enough to really get away with Root being the sixth option.

Dropping Roy for Billings and opening with Moeen avoids that conundrum to an extent I suppose.
I'm loathe to drop Stokes after how important his bowling has been for us this tour but I don't think Stokes' bowling will be much of a factor in T20 in India. Finn, Topley and Willey/Broad is a fair whack at a seam attack and I don't think Stokes maybe having to bowl one over (as oppose to probably bowling 5+ like in an ODI) is worth him being a shunt at five like he seems to insist on doing.

It's taken me ages to decide on that though. Stokes' record just stubbornly refuses to not be ****.

Stokes's record is **** for a #5 but his high strike rate and crappy average combination is pretty well suited to batting #7 if that's where he ended up.

In 50 over I'd do just that, but I think Roy's ability to get us off to a fast start in T20 is something that's hard to overlook.
I don't think Roy's any more likely to get off to a flier than Moeen though, really. I think picking Roy only holds if Moeen adds something down the order as well but he's just not.

Oh FFS Jos, let's bring in a specialist 'keeper, sure we wouldn't do worse with one. Winds me up we can't take chances that might give us a glimmer.

Great stuff from the keeper. Just because it won't affect the result doesn't make it any easier to watch us playing at village green standard.

Ahh, the inevitable flare of hope, before the inevitable defeat, wouldn't be England without it.

It'a amazing I said earlier I wouldn't get my hopes up whatever happens we won't win, as soon as I do, babg 6-4.

That quote from that bloody film needs to be in my mind constantly.

Oh here we go again.......
