*Official* England in NZ 2023

NZ vs Sri Lanka at Hagley Oval: be there to watch Latham gorge himself on his home deck and be lauded once again as ‘pure class and the best opener we’ve ever had’.
I don't think there will be much to celebrate after this series. England likely to smash us in the second Test as well and make most realize we're in a **** hole currently.

I've never understood the KW to #4 rationale. What's the point? What do we (and him) gain from it? Just has the feel of making a change for the sake of making a change.
You often see ageing batsmen start to move down the order over time. Too many holes in the NZ order to plug these days no matter what they do in any case, a dearth of real quality and some guys have fallen away to an alarming degree.

Yup once the reflexes start to go, it's not unusual to see a number 3 batsmen move down.

NZ had a collective spark about them when Baz was at the helm, and then we coasted a bit on the afterglow after he left the scene. Now we’ve reverted to type under a couple of blokes who are nice enough fellas but aren’t really ‘leaders of men’. Couple them with the staid and deeply conservative Stead, and the stench of mediocrity and failure has well and truly returned. But the good times were fun while they lasted.
Hah, you’ve changed your tune.

Mitchell has a chance for a somewhat meaningless 30 odd not out to boost his average a bit & fair play to him I guess.

It maybe a bit meaningless, but TBH would you rather you pathetically capitulated below a ton, it shows a bit of guts at least.
I did say fair play to him, but would I care if the losing margin was 260 or 300 , and we were bowled out for 120 instead of 80, not in the slightest. It's a thrashing either way.
