**Official** England in New Zealand

Well done Southee, he's definately showed he wasn't U19 player of the tournament for no reason. Not overally quick but I think in a few years he'll be up around 140 km's. His seam presentation is the key.

It's moving around this morning, tough session ahead for the NZ openers.

Jesus, that didn't last long, did it? Sort of pleased Sid threw the bat a little tho, 'cos 13 off three or four overs is better than 1 off eight or nine.

Well done to Southee too, has a future, the boy.

Southee gets what Mills never has. A 5 wicket bag
I think he looks a class above and when his accuracy comes round which I hope will he will be a decent threat with the ball.

Mills ain't that bad. He's hardly played any test cricket to be fair.
Hopefully Mills, Martin and Southee can form a good combination over the next few years.

253 ao. At some point I'll manage to get excited about Southee, but today I'm still too disgusted about our top 6. Yet again. At least our tail didn't paper over too many of the cracks, and hopefully Key, Shah, Carberry et al will show infinitely more guts, technique & intelligence when they get their chances in the summer. Which surely they must. Quite why these guys' batting has gone down the pan is a whole other discussion, but they're just wasting places in the side right now.

Nice reward for Southee who bowled very well in this innings. Unfortunately we were always capable of surrendering rather meekly this morning, over to you bowlers to dig us out of this hole!
Conditions look good for swing bowling, need early wickets, therefore Jimmy and Siddy must get it right with the new ball.....please!

Mills is pretty good. But if Southee and Patel play who first Martin or Mills?

If we go by statistics its Mills. If we go by experience its Martin. I would choose MArtin just. Frnaklin if he was fit.

Like I said, it's going to be tough in these conditions. 250 will still be a competitive score if you ask me.

Jesus, Bell's ordinary, isn't he? Totally misjudged that & offered no shot to a straight one. 1/1 & enter the departing hero...

Oh dear even I feel for Matthew Bell - as has been said Sidebottom could be a handfull with the new ball in these condidtions.
