Hrmm, missed two overs and our scores increased by 25 . I wouldn't be uncomfortable with us declaring now or in the next 20 runs if Fulton can get his century.

Fulton can hit the ball a long long way when he gets going.

I say NZ score to 480 and declare. .. Put it in end players mind that victory is not an option. At the rate they are scoring it won't take long to reach 480.

Is this where Astle hit his 200?
No, that was Christchurch.

Can't believe the umpires let Anderson piss around for so long in that last over before lunch - took about 5 minutes to bowl the over.

Reckon we'll bat for another half hour or so after lunch. No point declaring during the break; at the very least you want to make England get back out on the field rather than let them put their feet up over the break. Another half hour could easily be another 40-50 runs at the rate these two are going.

Noticed this from CricInfo also:

Andrew Jones was the last, and third, New Zealand batsman to make a hundred in each innings of a Test in 1991 v Sri Lanka in Hamilton
Come on Pete!

Positives to come out of NZ winning:

1. England lose a series to NZ
2. I get my avatar back sooner than expected
3. Scaly absolutely blows up and every time he bags NZ again this series can be references forever and ever and ever and ever.

NZ just have to win this. There is no other option. Just ****ing win this.

That was an amazing session. We don't need 450 or 500 - if England can seriously chase our current score of 415 in the remaining time then well done to them and they can chase anything.

Perhaps go out and bat again for 20-30 minutes after lunch to affect England's mindset a little more, as a byproduct Fulton can hopefully get his century, then declare.

Ah Fults... why couldn't you have started doing this 6 years ago? Ah well, great effort. Bat for an half an hour, slog our way up to 450ish and stick England in.

He's upped & changed his game since then.

Only his 'first' series as a proper opener for mine. Our Simon Katich, hopefully.

So how did our useless shower of piss batting lineup only manage to crawl to 204 on this pitch?
I'm not sure why you blokes are so quick to criticise your batsmen but not your bowlers. The reality is that it's a 350 par wicket. The more pertinent question is how your bowlers managed to gift NZ 250-1 on the first day, and then failed to take advantage from 8/3.
