Whatever it takes!!!
Amazing win for Bazball, this.

Brook, Carse, Atkinson all continue to amaze.

Unsure of Bethell as yet but at worst, he is still gonna be a very solid backup batsman. And maybe Pope should continue to bat 6 and keep wickets, if Smith is a better #3.

Basin looks superb in all of those photos. I've only ever seen domestic cricket there, so will have to try to make it to a test one day (hopefully one where the home team actually turns up).

They really have some competition for batting atm, and TBH both smith and Pope have kept really well, think Ollie Robinson (2) may regret that expired passport, hard to see how he gets in.

Neil Wagner must be sitting at home in the Bay right now wondering why Tim Southee is so special he was afforded a farewell tour when he’s looking even more cooked then he was last season.

What a joke. I’ll always watch test cricket involving NZ but I’m not watching another game of limited overs until Stead gets the ****ing boot.

Well the England fans are a mixture of laughing he is being selected as it makes it easier for us and sad a fine cricketer is a pale shadow of his former self and still being picked.

It's a real shame seeing him like this but you can't beat father time.

Legit. Wagner was cooked and deserved to be dropped, but he was still bowling a lot better than Southee is now. And that was Wagner bowling with a torn meniscus.

Just goes to show how in a bubble the team management is that Southee's place next week isn't even up for debate. I've spoken to plenty of casual cricket fan friends in the past couple weeks and they're all fuming that Southee is getting the VIP treatment at the expense of better players. I think it's genuinely quite damaging to the team's reputation at home. Even Sumo sounded slightly bemused when Latham said that Southee will be playing next week.

There was a kind of valedictory presentation about Southee's career that they played in the innings break at the Basin yesterday. Barely any noise from the crowd about it.

A bit of a contrast to when Wagner was 12th man for his last test and seemed to get a huge ovation every time he set foot on or near the field. Maybe we could have done something along those lines for Southee too. His great career has earned him a victory lap in front of big NZ crowds, but maybe it would be better spent walking around the edge of the field rather than bowling toothlessly in the middle.

That's actually quite sad tbh but obviously the fans have had enough which is more than understandable.
