Absolutely. The one time in their 35 tests that McCullum's England have batted more than 130 overs they scored 823. There's still about 210 overs left in the game by my reckoning.
As I said earlier, I kinda get it. I would love to know whose decision it was for a guy averaging 2 to come out in perfect batting conditions ahead of a guy who gets paid tonnes of rupees to do exactly the thing he avoided doing.

Then again Richardson more than makes up for his absence.
