Not Terrible
As a Taurangian native.

I'd just like to say that I am offended by continual reference to Mt Maunganui as if it is some kind of independent town.

We absorbed you in 1989, you ****ers. And gave you some actual kerbs. This test is being played in Tauranga. Mt Maunganui is just some mis-named suburb.

P.s. Should have built the test venue on Tauranga Domain No2. Beautiful views. Not wedged between a Salt mountain and a shipping container graveyard.
As a fellow Western Bay of Plentier, nah bugger that. It's the Mount.

This is prob not the right place to ask but how is the real estate prices in Queenstown? Is it as expensive as major NZ cities?

I live in the same region and yes, it's the Mount. Tauranga ends, for me anyway, at the bridge heading over past the Marina. Anything past there up Hewletts Road is the Mount.

You guys obviously didn't live through the local authority battle of 1989. It's Tauranga ......

Look, I'm an Aucklander who knows none of the history but maintains the right to decide what is and isn't in any region I decide to live.

Aucklanders are basically reprising history and colonising all parts of our own country. The Mount is a perfect example. We don't want Tauranga. We want the beaches, Mauao, the cafes, the marina etc. Gate Pa is of no interest. Even The Strand, as funky as its trying to be, no thanks.

they're pushing out a bit at colin here. wouldn't mind him sending down a straight even slower ball for the short cover catch.

Denly wants to score here, never thought he'd be interested in batting time. We're a real sniff with him if we bowl well. Huge period.

One thing Raval has been decent at in the past has been spending time at the crease, even when he's in pretty average form. How that translated into an insistence into swatting half volleys over the leg side off Leach, I'm actually clueless to describe. I can't remember such reckless opening batsmanship.
Raval said something last season about consciously trying to play a few more shots rather than pure grind, which is how he played when he was first selected for NZ. That was ok against SL and Bang in NZ, and sure enough he scored his first hundred and didn't need 300 balls to do it. But against teams with competent fast bowlers he needs to go back to pure discipline and stubbornness. It still may not be enough this summer, but it's better for the team to make sure he doesn't gift his wicket.

Other concern with him is he seems to put so much pressure on himself that any failure compounds and makes him worse again (both batting and fielding). Really hope he scores next match and breaks out of the funk. We're not replacing him for the Aus series and need him to somehow survive and bat time.
