*Official* England in New Zealand 2019

Just so everyone knows, since the start of 2015 (arbitrary date based on nothing more than I like 2015 as a year), there have been 22 Tests - we've won 14 of them, visitors have won three and there's been only four draws. We have the 2018 England Test in Chch where Sodhi and Wagner held up for a draw (a genuinely thrilling Test even without a result) then three others which had a certain amount of rain to them.

The rock avalanche thing was from the switch hit podcast a week or so ago? Has he repeated it?
Just been repeated in print, I certainly wouldn't listen to a podcast from someone who's clearly as negative as this Dobell guy is.

Hope the rain stays away and this pair bat all session 2 as well. Taylor needs 7 more for 7000 test runs while a century for Williamson would be a return to form, even if helped by England's fielders.

Nothing wrong with this pitch. NZ will declare on Wed afternoon with a lead of 400, then bowl Eng out on Thurs.

If I was an England fan, I'd be most filthy about the lack of heart in this series. I've debated whether that's to do with the lack of Test Championship status, and OK it's very soon after the Ashes...but I'd be incredibly disappointed in the lack of effort. Why is Denly bowling seven overs of harmless dross before lunch, when the game is right in the balance? If they want spin, why isn't Root bowling?

It's one thing for English writers to sook about how flat it is, but if you can't catch something that's basically handed to you on a dinner plate, and your general persona is CBF, then it's really no surprise there's no result forthcoming. I'd suggest those writers should look a lot closer to home about what's going on.

Rain radar not looking good. Shame neither of them will reach their ton, but good on them for ensuring the game is safe.

Rankings for the series

Watling 10 - a flawless series from the WPWB.
Wagner 9 - god I love this man.
CdG 8 - Handy wickets and some thumping boundaries, what more can you say.
Santner 7 - very handy efforts even if I don't think he should be in the team.
Williamson 7 - solid if unspectacular, got a slice of bad luck at Tauranga and was repaid in full today.
Taylor 7 - still looks reliant on flat pitches or cack bowling to make big runs, but in this series he got to enjoy both.
Latham 7 - an excellent hundred to help set up this match for NZ, but otherwise he's been a tad loose.
Mitchell 7 - did his job as the dollar store dG.
Southee 6 - still don't like the pace he's bowling at, but he revived our hopes at Tauranga with some great channel bowling.
Nicholls 5 - a solid grafting knock at Tauranga to begin the fight back, but failed to capitalise.
Henry 4 - bowled some nice lines, and had a crucial chance put down, but he really shouldn't have been playing.
Raval 1 - Oof.

Used the pitch to drive here in record time #dobellthoughts

Wind picking up and ots getting gloomy. Not bad bowling weather tbh

Seeming very likely that Taylor will be NZs all time highest run scorer after this Summer.

Probably gets overtaken by Kane either the summer in the following two.

That looks a bit murky. Kane and Ross better get a leg on if they want their complimentary hundreds.

I love the improved batting from Santner, but I just don't think the guy offers enough with the ball.
