yeah if that doesn't swing it goes through midwicket for 4

every bowler in the world knows cook hangs back early tho so you can almost bowl anywhere except short to him with safety

It's not out of the question that this could be at least Vince's last test.

Stoneman either.

That's the sort of pressure here.

Trent Akram running in.

He should have already played his last test, shouldn't be on the tour.
Of course.

But if there is nothing to show here then surely he will be packed away for good.

Thought taking Ballance as a reserve bat in Australia was a missed opportunity for someone else. Preparing them for this series.

Some lovely movement from Boult and Southee, especially Boult getting it to jag both ways. The pitch is slower than Auckland though, so it's not quite as threatening.

Though there's been a few too many not quite on target as well.

Well Livingstone should be in the side without doubt and if that means Root has to bat 3 then tough.

Can see us having wholesale changes next summer like we did after the last ashes thrashing away from home.

Southee's action is looking much stronger. He's not rushing through it, feet are better aligned, and he's using more front arm. Pace is definitely up too.

Stoneman really needs to work on his pull, he plays it like a child trying to lift a heavy shopping bag.
