***Official*** England in India

You seemed to imply that the team India A was automatically better than any of the teams put out for countries touring England on the basis of the number of international players in it which quite frankly is an unsound assertion.

There's a difference between Bangladesh internationals and Indian internationals though, you must concede.

Why not? With no fewer than 7 active test players, all of whom are more or less first choice replacements for the incumbents, and the likes of Yuvraj and Raina actually fighting for an open spot, they have every right to be considered as one of the better teams put up for a tour match in the last few years by any country. If BCCI really wanted to troll, they would've scheduled a state like Haryana or HP filled in with unknowns and has beens.

Please learn how batting works before posting any more on the subject.

Having more internationals in a team does not make it better or a more appropriate warmup just because of the international caps. You can't seriously say that Yuvraj and Raina are top of the line test players.

Meh this argument is getting a bit tedious. We've got three games to get used to conditions, the first one went very well really. Let's see how it goes, if they'd picked top-class spinners with us not having played awhile, we could have easily been rolled twice, which wouldn't have helped.

Anyway, Cook, Prior and Swann all rested for the next game. Compton and Root will play definitely. Guess Monty and JB too.

Yep, sounds very sensible. I'm assuming Broad in for Finn as well. So:

Compton
Root
Trott
Pietersen
Bell
Patel
Bairstow
Bresnan
Broad
Anderson
Panesar

Slightly unfair on Bairstow to make him keep wicket and bat seven in his tour match but it seems like it's been stacked against him from the start really.

I wonder if Swann's elbow is still plaguing him. He only bowled 5 overs in the second inning against India A.

Bowled lots in the first innings. I'm going to be optimistic and assume he felt that was enough of a workout and just cbf after that.

Broad's captain. I'm guessing they're planning to play the bowlers in two matxhes each, so let Jimmeh and Bres go again, then rest them for the final match.

Obviously all depending on Finns fitness, but would expect Monty and Swann to bowl in the last.

The only match that Ian Bell has opened in Tests is the only one we've won in India in 27 years.

What a pointless piece of info.
