***Official*** England in India

According to Atherton, Dhoni was asked by umpires if he'd like to withdraw the appeal... Obviously not!! It's not remotely like the Bell case, where the umpires were right by the letter of the law - here, it's the umpires' fault, so they should reverse it. Poor all around, chaps.
Haha yeah. "So, MS, it turns out we ****ed that one up, would you mind getting every Indian fan out there to hate you so as we can look a bit better?"

has the wicket flattened out a bit or the English have been just playing really really well?
Mixture of top batting, poor fielding/captaincy, and that it wasn't all that dangerous to begin with I think. It's still turning pretty heavily, but the bounce is even.

It's piss poor that they're even getting the captains involved. Unlike the Bell one at TB, it isn't a question of morals, the decision was wrong. So the umpires can either reinstate him or say it's too late. The fact is they leave Dhoni in no mans land when they leave it up to him as he'll end up hated by one set of fans, whatever decision he makes.

They don't ask the fielding captain if he'd revoke his appeal when they realise it's a no ball, and essentially it's the same thing.

Can't see what the fuss is, Bairstow was out, given wrongly and a mistake but we move on. Same as we moved on after Patel's dismissals last test.

And that's not even considering that there never was an appeal because Bairstow walked.

The dismissal had literally nothing to do with Dhoni at any point.
