*Official* England in India 2023/24 #CryMoreTour

Stokes having his first practice bowl today, just off a few steps. Promising signs for the Summer anyway (can't see him bowling before then).
Maybe he's planning to bowl spin. Wouldn't hurt to have another spinner in the team.

It is almost a shame (and I do mean almost) that Sanskritsimon hasn't seemingly made his way here. He'd have loved talking about all the spinners......

Whatever it takes!!!
Who would have thought, a few weeks ago, that England would be playing a 41 year old as their only pace bowler.
TBH, I always expected Anderson to play. And it was always a possibility that at some point in the tour they may go with only one pacer. I just never thought it would be Wood in that case. That was the surprise.

Anyways, hopefully India does the sane thing and play Washy, Patidar and Kuldeep for Jaddu, Rahul and Siraj. I wont mind Sarfraz for Gill either. Siraj can be a handful with a swinging and seaming new ball on most tracks but I dunno if he is currently up for it in terms of pace, energy and reverse swing skills to bowl those additional spells necessary and I feel Kuldeep will be a tougher proposition to sweep and reverse sweep on a wicket that should have good pace and decent bounce (both consistent) even if it does take turn.

Not the same team, but in Brian Close's last Test vs West Indies in 1976 WI had 6 players born after he debuted in July 1949
I wondered whether Woolmer and Hayes might have been born after Close's debut, but no. 'Young' Frank Hayes was actually 29 at the time.

Yeah no point in debating about Gill or Iyer been dropped as not happening.

Those 3 changes make sense, add some batting depth which the sides needs with Jadeja out , Bharat no good and the top order dodgy while plenty of bowling.

Siraj is fine, but he brings less to the table then Washy, Kuldeep etc so he has to go sadly.

Rohit- Jaiswal- Gruesome Twosome- Patidar- Bharat- Washy- Axar - Ashwin- Kuldeep- Bumrah

I'd rather fat Bradman in then Washy but that line up as you suggests works for all.
