If Root goes before lunch we are well and truly hammered, not that we will avoid defeat anyway.
Looking like 4-0 now as we have 4 players who shouldn't play another match on tour in Ballance, Duckett, Ansari and Batty and also have Hameed and Broad injured. When you have an 18 man squad that leaves you in a sticky situation. Doubt we will call anyone up bar one opener so nothing will change and the batting will continue to fail.

Yep and he was even **** for Warwickshire last season.
Presumably they'll call over Lions people from UAE. Jennings and Leach are there, lets see if they can get blindly ignored again. I'm guessing the clowns will pick someone like Dawson.

Na Hameed is the wonderkid and has looked good but is sadly injured.
Duckett will come again but he is mentally shot due to his technical weakness against good off spin. He has time on his side to rectify that and become a decent player but it would be counterproductive to play him again in this series. If he plays then India will just open the bowling with Ashwin or Yadav and have him on toast in no time. How long they leave Duckett out for is open to debate, he may be seen as a good player of pace bowling and be one to persevere with next summer against SA and WI then Australia and NZ next winter, not going to be many rank turners or quality off spinners to face in those 4 series and he can be working hard on his technique in that time to counter it when he does meet a quality spin attack again.
We have messed up our squad by selecting it when we did but it is what it is and India are all over us and we can't cope. Not the end of the world as they have done it to many sides of late and will continue to do so at home.

Was hopelessly exposed by quality pace bowling, might be able to play spin but we never found out as he never batted long enough to face any. Being left handed it would be pointless picking him seeing how the Indian offspinners are all over our lefthanders anyway.

What's the deal with Leach? Is his average just really good because of favourable home conditions this season or is he better than someone like Batty?

Whatever it takes!!!
Even if he did get wickets in favorable conditions, as long as they were reasonable and similar to what they might find in India, he should be worth a go, surely.

Anyone is better than Batty. Hated the idea of him and Ansari being picked when it was rumoured before it was announced. They have lived up to expectation.
