I hate these last-wicket stalemates, and can't for the life of me understand what others see in them, but so far I've been unable to convince anyone that fielding restrictions would be a good idea. Sigh.

That last wicket stand was literally the opposite of a stalemate.

England can't force a win from here, it's the sort of situation where a draw is big favourite, but even though India are behind they're more likely to win than England. Without the dropped catch from Cook England would have been in the better position to win. Albeit still long odds of winning.
