Dawson is a batsman who can bowl, and he is looking comfortable out there. And so is Rashid. Barely a false shot, let alone any play & miss.

Broad can bat too and so can Jake Ball, so it's hardly unexpected if England score another 100+

This. Except that the new ball nipped around a few times in the morning. Thats about it. Very slow dull pitch. Probably a new ball pitch for bowlers?

We should never play on the black soil wicket in Chennai, esp. the winter test. It might be better if we got a test against Aus in March and we played on this track which would have settled/worn by then. For the winter tests, BCCI needs to ensure we play on the red soil tracks wherever possible. But this is perhaps the coolest I have ever seen in Chennai during December so who knows what part the weather is playing in all this.
