***Official*** England in India 2016/17

Yea we haven't lost a toss in a while at home. The SAF series the only one where opposition batted first and got washed out, interesting to see how we go if England score something like 400. Nzl often got into good positions in the test series only to collapse in a heap later though they don't bat as deep as England do.

Well batted bloke.

3 years since Clarke's, which was the last by a visiting bat. Ridiculous stat on "flat tracks of India"

Yeah quite some stat.

Magnificent from Root, just the ease in which he scores at this rate.

Problem isn't so much with 'flat tracks of India' or 'square turners of India'

Problem is the idea that all Indian tracks across decades of test cricket history are the same. There are flat tracks in India, and there have been square turners in India.

Problem is people's attitudes are dumb when it comes to subcontinent tracks. They want them to be their tracks back home. Well no, that'd be boring

What does Moeen Ali have to do on this tour to end up as England's no.5 for the summer? Score two hundreds?

I get the feeling that no matter what he does the fact he can bowl means that he'll end up at 8 when we want to go back to 4 seamers and a spinner. Which seems unfair.
Problem is we are having enough trouble finding 4 specialist batsman let alone 5 and who the hell do you bat at 8 otherwise, or do you play a 5th seamer/2nd spinner for the hell of it given you'd still have Woakes at 8? I guess they are still trying to get Buttler back in the side so they could pick him and put him at 8, but then they would probably put Bairstow at 5 and Moeen at 7.

Great hundred. We knew we were relying on him going big to give us even half a chance to be competative this series. Great start.

Bairstow has also been much better with the gloves recently. Lets just play 10 players.

Ideally we just find that spinner who at least has the control to bowl the majority of overs during home Tests, with Moeen as a wicket taking option. At this stage it does not look like that player is on this tour. Might actually consider playing the 5 pace bowlers in Australia though.
