Do go into detail if you will, you're infinitely more well-educated in fast bowling than I.
I dont have much more to add. I wrote at the begining of his international career that I liked his action and there isnt too much wrong there but I dont think he is a particularly good bowler. He wouldnt have made the Yorkshire team in the 90s.

He is a little bit of a throwback to a good, but common, 70s county cricketer. Not international class though.

Finn in for Onions is what today's papers have said.

Think a lot depends on Broad being fit, tbh. If he's screwed reckon we'll go in with only 4 bowlers (Swann, Tredwell, Bresnan & Finn, IMHO) and try to muddle thru with Colly &/or Trott as 1st change. A 6,7,8 of Prior, Swann & Bresnan would be too much of a gamble.

I'd think we'd be even more inclined to play 5 bowlers if Broad isn't fit, cannot see us going in with 2 seamers with Bresnan and a young guy on debut. Also when you consider the other seamer possibilities you have two guys who are more than capable with the bat, Shazad averages 30 with the bat in FC, Plunkett is decent, and of course you would be playing Tredwell who isnt a mug with the bat so you'd still have batting abliity down to 10. You might end up with 4 no.8's but I think there is plenty of potential for runs from that lower order and we will need the extra bowler.

I think Shakib will worry the top order more. I'm not sure but he always seems to take more top order wickets than run through the tail when he takes a big haul maybe someone can confirm.

58 wickets. Lower order : Zaheer Khan(2), Morne Morkel(2), Tino Best(2), Dale Steyn, Kyle Mills, Muralitharan, Iain O'Brien, Dilhara Fernando, Dammika Prasad, Sreesanth, Zondeki.

Which I make as 13/58
There's an easier way. HowSTAT! Wickets by Batting Order Graph

Similar proportion of lower order wickets as someone like Andrew Flintoff.

But that's not great analysis. This is what you're looking for. His record's pretty good, but the truth is we don't know how good he is at bowling to the tail, because Bangladesh's direness dictates that he only rarely does so.

Come on Carbs, nervous for him, really want him to do well.

Pretty surprised by not really displeased by the selection, still can see us collapsing horribly though.

Yeah that first boundary was classic Carberry, basically just waiting for the spin now though. Do not see it being much longer.

Man, can already tell this pitch will be a nightmare to bat on in a few days. Don't understand the decision to bowl first at all.

Just realised that Finn is the first England player to a test match who is younger than me. Sad day.
