I think this is alright from Shabbir. He has to get almost all the runs himself and he has 2 wickets to play with but not under any circumstances his own. He knows that once he gets out it's over, but if Taijul gets out it's not. At the same time the singles England are giving away are actually going to be a pretty valuable source of runs when runs are at absolute premium. If Taijul can block out 4-5 overs then he's actually got Bangladesh a fair chunk of the way to the target. If not, then change the plan when he's batting with Shafiul.

VVS was doing something similar in Mohali tbh. Not quite as dumb as Ishant taking a 1 off the 5th ball and VVS taking two off the 6th, but he definitely gave Ishant the bulk of the strike.
