*Official* England in Australia (2 T20 & 7 ODIs)

It's just a massive tactical problem they've had for quite a while. They bat far too negatively and as a result don't make anywhere near full use of their resources. I thought losing Clarke from the side would have helped more than it did.
We do the same thing in ODIs a lot of the time. Muck around in the middle overs for funsies.

Dave Hussey took Clarke's place in the team in more ways than one.
What's the deal with that, Hussey's such an awesome attacking batsman. His performance makes me more inclined to think it's a misunderstanding of the format throughout the setup than just Clarke's uselessness.

Really enjoyed the game tonight, great entertainment - being a neutral, was almost hoping it went down to a Super Over! Sensational effort from Watson despite finishing on the losing team. I'm sure someone with the stats will be able to confirm, but is this the first instance of a player taking four wickets and scoring a 50 in a T20 international?
Yeah I'm not sure, but it was surely one of the best T20 performances ever. I mean 59 @ a SR of 190.32 and 4/15 @ only 3.8 an over. Both as individual stats are excellent, let alone together. WAG.

It was just the way Hussey was batting, just looked completely oblivious to the fact we were creeping. Clarke at least tries to blast, unsuccessfully of course because he's **** at it, but Hussey just didn't seem to care. It was extraordinary.

I agree though - it does seem to be a tactical problem. That Hussey was in Clarke's old spot is enlightening - surely they're not telling the #3 to "dig in"?

Well done to England for holding their nerve. I thought Australia had the game won when Shane Watson got Graeme Swann.

Yeah, Callum Ferguson being fit again will hopefully help a bit with that, he's the one batsman in the side who specialises in working the ball around at a good click.

This guy Watto seems quite decent. How come he didn't bowl much in the Ashes?
Because he's a top order batsmen, so needs all his mental energy to concentrate on batting long periods of time. Otherwise he'll be too tired and so will get a good start and then throw it away instead of making big hundreds.

*Ahem* Mussey? Made fifty after fifty after fifty in 08/09 at a run a ball purely on running hard and pinching ones and twos.

Yeah Smith and Mitch are great value, so much more likeable these days.
Smith's such a ****ing gun in short formats. Can understand why he's not rated in tests because of his techniques but he's so so so gun in short forms, just by the way he plays his cricket.

Fair enough if he's being rested, but it stuns me at just how under-rated he is in this format. Chennai picking him up for less than half a million was the biggest bargain in the IPL auction, he's the best LO batsman in the world.

Held the record for the fastest T20 century for a while.

Aussies absolutely dominated the first IPL, now that I think of it. It's incredible how quickly they've fallen.

Cannot disagree with this

Great game of T20, really exciting. Watto, WAFG. Suuuuuch a gun.

Would've loved to see the other angle on that boundary 'save' from Finch. Could've made the difference

You mean the one where Finch got within two metres of the ball then gave up and left Johnson to clean up?
