FFS... why do we keep leaving the 'batting' PP for the bowlers!!?
Anyways... good to see Clarke make some runs today, but still can't call it a good innings or anything, but atleast it should be clear to him now that the best way for him is to go out there and be positive and play his shots.

I know hindsight is great and all, but how many games is this now where the batting powerplay has had a great opportunity to be taken, but not for fear of losing wickets, then the wickets get lost anyway?

Can never understand why it isn't taken around 35 overs when you have 2 players set which was the case today.

All the people who are having a go at Marsh should only take look at his overall domestic record, and then it would be clear to everyone that what he is doing atm at the international level is nothing new.
The guy is great talent and is pleasure to watch once he gets going, but he has been a very inconsistent batsman and expecting runs from him day in and day out is pretty futile.

Why should you lose wickets in a batting PP!? There is just no need to slog in a batting PP, just play each ball on its merit and even if you don't get too many runs out of the PP atleast you screw with the opposition captain's bowling plans.
EDIT: Meh, Mitch has become such a slogger these days, its pretty disappointing as there some genuine batting potential in him.

Should Hastings really be batting ahead of Lee..?
Lee is undoubtedly a better hitter so probably not in pp

However, Hastings looks a pretty good cricketer to me so it's worth the risk just to give him some time in the middle

Probably

England's bowling depth is damn impressive imo. Reckon their 2nd XI bowling attack would be test-standard and even their 3rd XI attack wouldn't be bad either.

6 wickets to Woakes!!! Our batting in the last 12 overs has been mindless to say the least.....
EDIT: What's up with all this praise Brayshaw keeps showering upon Smith..?

Just playing devils' advocate, the aversion towards it being used before the 40th over by teams in modern times is generally because they want to conserve wickets. As said before, the wickets fall inevitably and the batting powerplay is wasted on lower order batsmen in the end.

I'm only assuming that the expected aggression in the batting powerplay overs would lead batsmen to make mistakes they wouldn't normally do if the field wasn't up.
