England A notched up their first win in one-day cricket all tour, largely due to the performance of one man, while Cricket Web A were punished for lack of boundaries in their innings. After being put in to bat, James Stedman played a fine knock against testing bowling, and eventually made 77 before hoiking to Saj Mahmood. There was little support while he batted, but Alex Crampton, who came in later, helped ensure a good total by hitting a run-a-ball 40, and Callum Thompson and Harry Warwick put on an unbeaten 33 for the final wicket. Defending 247, the Cricket Web bowlers didnt look particularly threatening from the start, but succeeded in tying Cook and Joyce down, and the opening stand of 78 took a long time. Jack McNamara then completed his seamless graduation from the U-19 side, deceiving Shah, Solanki and Read en route to figures of three for 27, and when Alex Wharf was caught by Alex Blackman for 7, the total stood at 171 for 7.

Rikki Clarke, however, had stood firm against McNamara's off spin, and now went on to bully the CWLand seam bowlers. He went from 17 to 50 in the space of 11 deliveries, smashed Callum Thompson for twenty-two in one fateful over, then calmed down against Cameron before taking Watt on for 21. With Gareth Batty joining in on the fun late on, England A eased past the target, after the eighth-wicket partnership of 80 had come off 35 deliveries.

Cricket Web A 247 for 6 (50 overs)
England A 251 for 7 (47.4 overs)
England A won by three wickets
Man of the Match: Rikki Clarke

Pretty disappointing to lose against this mob, we really should have the wood over them. Great work by Stedman. On a personal note, pretty suprised with those figures, just hoping to get a feel for the increase in standard of cricket.

England A quickly found the losing path again, after Mike Wilson continued the season of Twenty20-style batting by flaying Anderson, Lewis, Broad et al for 91 in 28 deliveries. Earlier, Black had been tied down by Gareth Batty and Rikki Clarke, while Stuart Broad had chipped away and got three wickets amid some poor and inconsistent bowling. Apart from Wilson, the batting highlights included a fine 69 from Simon Fitzsimmons, while David Kearsley didn't take the opportunity to prove himself in front of CWLand selectors when Gareth Batty's top spinner took out the top of middle stump after a missed sweep shot.

England A started positively, with Cook and Key adding 64 for the first wicket, but the run rate didn't look good enough, and England A took the consequences and started to play the extravagant shots. The predictable collapse followed, as Black's bowlers helped themselves to wickets, and only Key (58) and captain Solanki (35) passed 20 for England A. Meanwhile, Dave Richards celebrated a rare good one-day moment, claiming Dalrymple, Read and Broad to get figures of three for 30.

Cricket Web Black 287 for 5 (50 overs)
England A 171 all out (40.3 overs)
Cricket Web Black won by 116 runs
Man of the Match: Mike Wilson
