I don't think Netravalkar has gotten US citizenship yet.

It's funny though. You would think he would get a citizenship to represent a country
I got the impression quite a lot of their players simply had long-term visas and qualify on residency grounds. That certainly happens in rugby, where you have a load of South Sea Islanders representing 6 nations sides, despite negligible other ties to the countries they represent. I shouldn't exclude the South African players representing other countries either.

Depends how long the residency period is, sometimes residency players can have deep roots and have a family in that country. Correct me if I’m wrong, but it seems as though the South Asian raised players in the USA team didn’t come over just to play cricket and got jobs, whereas the South Africans and New Zealanders came over specifically to play cricket and saw an opportunity which would have been lacking at home

oh that’s correct with at least Netravalkar. He is an IT engineer. Probably others in the same boat as him.

Some pretty cool news from the Women's Big Bash League, Perth Scorchers have signed Indonesia's Ni Made Putri Suwandewi. I remember there was an Indonesian raised player in the IPL (albeit he was born in India and is very much of Indian nationality), but I'm guessing she is the first Indonesian player to play in any franchise league?

I mean this was always likely to happen, Zimbabwe only have themselves to blame for ending up here, and I feel sorry for Gambia but hopefully they will learn something. Including getting to games on time.

Gambia is such an odd country for geography nerds.

ICC has some highlights up. Confirm Raza got his ton off 33. Some interesting batting techniques from the Gambians.

Pakistani fans are going to be shocked by some of these best batting and best bowling figures of zimbos when they tour next month.

I feel like Zimbabwe really could’ve gotten away with playing something that wasn’t their full strength side. As much as they’ve declined they’re still a million miles ahead of the rest of Africa that isn’t South Africa and (right now) Namibia.

They missed out on the last T20 World Cup because they rested some players and dropped a game to Uganda. Understandable that they're taking this cycle's qualifying tournament super seriously.

Yeah, no mercy.

The more I think about the Gambian batting the more I want to reach out to their cricket board and offer them some help. I think any one of us could improve their techniques. Just telling the opener to stand still and not tiptoe up and down on the spot would help. Others need to keep their front elbow high.

Hope they watch the video back and see how Bennett, Marumani and Raza were setting up and what they can do better.

Only when Namibia can put out their best XI with them all fit at the same time. Seems a long time since we've seen that team take the field.
