ICC Under 19 WC 2016 in Bangladesh

Nepal v Namibia 7th Place Play Off

From Cricket Europe :

Namibia will be delighted with their performance in this tournament. Not one of the associates reckoned to be in with a chance of reaching the quarter finals, they've ended as the top associate in the tournament. Nepal meanwhile can feel a little hard done by. They've finished ahead of three full members and will have to play regional qualifiers for the next World Cup whilst those three full members along with Australia - who didn't even play this tournament - will get a free pass. So much for the ICC's commitment to meritocratic pathways.

Boyd Rankin is back taking wickets for Ireland today, two years after his last appearance for England. I wonder if he's the first person to play for two nations and then go back to the first one?

Ed Joyce never played for Ireland before he played for England iirc.

Did want to watch this but it's not televised, annoyingly. Someone called Mohammed Shahzad (not that one) hitting boundaries for the UAE right now.

It depends if you consider the Intercontinental Cup to be international cricket. I certainly would.

From 90/1 after 12 overs Ireland are having a very good go at buggering this chase up. 109/5 after 17 now, chasing 134.

Medium pacers coming back on for UAE now so they should get a hold of them, but it's enough to make you think Ireland will really struggle chasing much down in India.

Another one down. Tail of Dockrell, Rankin, Murtagh and Sorensen needed. Porterfield could carry his bat here.

Or they could lose with run outs, whatever floats your boat.

Mohammed Shahzad (not that one) with a matchwinning performance, 22(16) and then comes on right at the end to take 2-10 while bowling tight enough to force two run outs.

That's ****ed up. Pretend to bowl and then mankad?

Really can't become a way of trying to get key players out.

That's not a legal Mankad as I understand it? He entered his bowling stride then pulled out. The Mankad should be done before he enters the bowling stride.

Not sure it was clear cut .ICC Rule unhelpfully worded and lacks precision but this type of dismissal will quickly become a trend if the umpire was correct to give the HK batsman out when his bat was behind the line at time bowler completed his delivery swing . It was not his usual delivery swing as he planned to mankad the batsman once he left the crease.Swing does not mean 360 degrees . Just upwards to a delivery point .The umpire could not see the bowlers arm as his focus would be on the front foot no ball and down the wicket. So how can umpires police this ? The Oman bowler stepped past the crease and turned back as the batsman naturally left his ground before releasing the ball at the stumps . By then it was a dead ball . So not out.The delivery stride and delivery swing were both complete. Therefore dead ball arguably .

See Rule.

42.15 Law 42.15 – Bowler attempting to run out non-striker before delivery Law 42.15 shall be replaced by the following: The bowler is permitted, before releasing the ball and provided he has not completed his usual delivery swing, to deliberately attempt to run out the non-striker.
