Headline - CW XI stay alive in series
[Rawalpindi] The CW XI bounced back somewhat to fight to a draw against Pakistan in the 2nd Test. Still, the effort was not truly convincing, as the Cricket Webheads were in total control heading into the second innings, but the lack of penetration in their seam attack was made to show.
Jason Toogood looked uncomfortable, especially against Shoaib Akhtar and Danish Kaneria, but fought manfully and played a couple of crucial knocks in the cause. Also of note was the effort of Neil Pickup, once again carrying the CW XI bowling with a determined effort.

Coach's Comments:
Much more fight shown by the batsmen this time around, but the bowling was the problem. We really are lacking the penetration in the seam department and will have to resolve this immediately if we are to compete... even against Bangladesh. The bowlers have to step up and show that they can operate on pitches which are less friendly than those in New Zealand, as the Ginger menace can't do it all on his own. Well done by Neil btw, outstanding bowling yet again and crucially his first real quality figures in a fair while at Test level.
Big notice especially of Toogood, Rich_2001 and Eclipse. Eclipse seems to finally have found some form, with a 3rd consecutive trip past 50. Rich was especially impressive, in that he bounced back from a pair to register a couple of half centuries to the cause. Whilst Toogood still struggled to get the ball away (and was dropped twice in the first innings - on 22 and 31), he stuck in there and kept his nerve for a couple of very important innings.
