Cricket Web 'A' vs Barbados - Bay Pasture
Day 1 - Tourists tuck in at the crease
An enormous second wicket partnership helped Cricket Web 'A' recover from an early loss to win the opening day of their tour. Fast and furious as always, Tino Best dismissed Stephen Young (0) with a sharp rising delivery 2 balls into the match. Best could have then had Bosco Fitzsimmons for a cheap 10, but with consecutive deliveries the opener was dropped. While Jamee Gray played the innings of confidence and care, Fitzsimmons edged past the half-century mark. Indeed, he was dropped twice more in the afternoon session.
Both batsmen raised hundreds before they were finally separated. One of the youngest of the Bajan ranks, Brooks clung on to his chance and sent Fitzsimmons back to the pavilion for 103. His replacement Garven understood the dominance of his team, so he played his shots with an air of arrogance from the moment he arrived. Notably he hit Dwayne Smith past midwicket with a classic flick of the wrist. Gray reached his 150 first, then Garven his 50. The latter took 54 balls. At stumps the two had added another century between them, and Cricket Web 'A' sat pretty on 360-2.

Day 2 - Storms slow Cricket Web progress
The Cricket Web 'A' batsmen endured a long delay for poor weather, but posted a large score of 400-4 when they declared the first innings closed. The score centred on Jamee Gray's impressive 170, which ended with a false shot outside offstump, 5 balls after a near 6-hour rain delay. Rob Bowen (2) came and went to Smith on an apparently fresher surface. But after he survived a close lbw shout on 88, Andrew Garven reached the third century of the innings from 109 balls. That prompted the declaration and left Barbados with an hour to survive on the evening. Rain intervened again, and with the home side on 32-0, the day was called to a close.

Day 3 - Hinds revives Barbados with 98
A cool innings by former captain Ryan Hinds kept Barbados afloat after a Martin West brace threatened a top order collapse. The left-armer made an excellent impression on his first Cricket Web 'A' duty, and was by far the best bowler on show on the day. His discipline and pace paid off early when he bowled left-hander Haynes for 20, then swung the ball sharply into right-hander Dwayne Smith to bowl him a ball later. It could well have been a hat-trick, but Davis failed to cling on to a difficult chance at mid-off to reprieve Hinds. Still, Dale Richards followed for 21, and Barbados struggled at 67-3.
Alcindo Holder and Hinds set out to counterattack the confident tourists and did so with some initial success. Holder was dropped by Heath Davis on 27, and progressed to an exciting 49 before his luck ran out. A wild swipe outside offstump offered a chance to slip, which Fitzsimmons grabbed smartly. Despite the loss, the Bajans continued to frustrate their opponents. Hinds led the charge and seemed set for a ton, as Sam Morris was handed the ball. The part-timer paid off hugely by bowling an over-ambitious Hinds 2 runs short of his milestone. Donald consolidated the breakthrough with Brooks lbw for 7, and at tea Barbados were 250-6.
In the last session they lost 4 wickets for 20 runs. West improved his figures to a tidy 3-53, while Mohammad Amir ended with 3-72. A lead of 130 in the bag, in the second innings Cricket Web 'A' again lost Stephen Young (17) cheaply. But by stumps they had pushed the lead past 200 without further loss. At the crease, Fitzsimmons and Gray looked set to carry on from their first innings heroics.

Day 4 - Corrin spins Webbers home
Martyn Corrin marked his captaincy debut with a stunning 6-wicket haul to unravel the efforts of Barbados and seal an impressive Cricket Web 'A' win. Barbados bowled their way back into the game in the first two sessions, limiting the tourists to 186 and a lead of 316. And after Heath Davis struck twice early, Barbados battled into the final session in increasingly impressive shape.
Corrin replaced Blake Donald at 109-2 and immediately removed Dwayne Smith for a swashbuckling half-century. Smith rode his luck, dropped and misstumped, and finally lofted a flighted delivery to Heath Davis in the deep. That wicket triggered a stunning collapse that saw the next 6 wickets fall within an hour.
The legspinner was the chief destroyer, crucially picking up Ryan Hinds for 18, and he raced to a 5-wicket haul. Only Martin West, with the wicket of Alcindo Holder (0), interrupted the one-man show, and Corrin added a 6th wicket with Brooks for 6. For a while there seemed hope that the Bajan tailenders would hold out in the final hour, as the Webbers dropped catches with shocking regularity. In fact it was the direct throw of substitute Nick Scott that wrapped up the match. His good work ran out Collymore for 12.
