One new face in Cricket Web XI squad
Uncapped Andy Cameron has been included in the 15-man party to contest the Cricket World Cup. Cameron has played for Cricket Web 'A' and Cricket Web Under-19 in recent times, but his selection ahead of more experienced candidates surely comes as a surprise.
Missing out on selection, of those who featured for the XI in recent times, are Xavier Rose, Sean Fuller and Nick Hancock. Co-chairman of the selectors, Liam Camps senior explained the ommissions.
"We're only afforded 15 players, and we have to cater for as many needs as we can within that allowance. Sean Fuller, Nick Hancock and Xavier Rose made contributions in the build-up to the tournament, but we ultimately went with the team we see best suited to handle the various challenges of the tournament," said Camps.
Inexperienced players Dinu DeSilva, Nath Patrick and Rob Dauth have been granted an opportunity to feature on the grand stage, but it is the veteran component of the squad that will be heavier upon to bring success.
Brendan Goff enters the tournament as an experienced batsman and captain, and one of the best players in the world. At his disposal are Liam Camps and Neil Pickup, representing a strong partnership of experience and class.
Nathan Hoy is set to lead the seam bowling attack, despite his relative inexperience.
