Thanks for saying that but people do want to know the squad. Whether we're in them or not.....

Experience meets youth in Cricket Web 'A' team

It is a keen blend of experienced players and prospects that comprise the 'A' team to play in the upcoming Top End series. Six players with international experience will bolster a side of some of the most promising talent in Cricket Web XI.

One-day international allrounder Sean Fuller will lead the side and Cricket Web Black captain Dan Smith stands as his deputy. Internationals Arunava Das, Bryce Cunningham and Xavier Rose have been included in the team, and discarded wicketkeeper Ash Chaulk gets a chance to stake his claim whilst Alex Crampton plays in Pakistan. A notable inclusion too is that of Dave Richards, who boasts the experience of 3 Tests, but has since been excluded from international cricket due to the spin duo of Neil Pickup and Tom Halsey and their success.

Development League veterans Andrew Garven, Travis Demeza, Adam Collins and opener James Stedman also make their way into the squad. The inclusion of Nitin Dravid, Matt Luff and Zac Gelman shows a move toward youth by the selectors, as they try out the sophomore talent. Tarick Weber and Paddy Gundry join Richards as the spinners in the squad.

Perhaps the biggest surprise is the inclusion of Shan Jasotharan, so long ignored due to attitude reasons. He will fight with Chaulk for rights of glovework. Kingsley Clapham and Kev Goughy have been included as provisional members as they will only be eligible for the one-day portion of the series.

Given the nature of the disciplinary action against them, the CWBCC has allowed the inclusion of Demeza and Stedman.

Cricket Web 'A' team:
SE Fuller (c), DP Smith (vc), AP Chaulk (wk), S Jasotharan (wk), AJ Garven, N Dravid, MD Luff, ZE Gelman, PG Gundry, TV Weber, DP Richards, TJ Demeza, AAA Collins, XPA Rose, BC Cunningham, JE Stedman, AS Das, KJ Goughy (provisional), KR Clapham (prov).

Interesting there with the inclusions of Demeza and Stedman. Anyway, good mix of squad there and one that should if not go all the way, give a good account of itself.

awesomeness...hopefully make huge runs if selected to put presure on Crampton and Mork. I'll be teaching young Jaso a thing or 2 hope he gets it all right. Welldone to everyone else too (y)

Pretty happy to stand as VC, as I didn't even expect to make the squad after a poor Dev League season. Fuller will be interesting to stand under. Could cop some abuse.

Currie ridiculously stiff not to be included. In any case, good luck to all included and I hope we have a successful tour.

Should be a really good series against a nice variety of opposition. With such a talented squad, we should be looking to make the final in both forms of the game.

There are obviously a few experienced names who missed the squad, but that opens the door for younger players to stake their claim for future representation.

And incidentally, it's a great honour to lead the A team for the third year in a row.

Wow..... extremely excited, and suprised to have made the squad, despite it being in a OD only role :)

Congratulations to all others selected, especially to Fuller & Smith for being given the leadership roles.

Pleased, but surprised, to make the cut although I'm guessing I made it because of the emphasis on the OD games. Congrats to all those selected...we should do well here.
