Experience meets youth in Cricket Web 'A' team
It is a keen blend of experienced players and prospects that comprise the 'A' team to play in the upcoming Top End series. Six players with international experience will bolster a side of some of the most promising talent in Cricket Web XI.
One-day international allrounder Sean Fuller will lead the side and Cricket Web Black captain Dan Smith stands as his deputy. Internationals Arunava Das, Bryce Cunningham and Xavier Rose have been included in the team, and discarded wicketkeeper Ash Chaulk gets a chance to stake his claim whilst Alex Crampton plays in Pakistan. A notable inclusion too is that of Dave Richards, who boasts the experience of 3 Tests, but has since been excluded from international cricket due to the spin duo of Neil Pickup and Tom Halsey and their success.
Development League veterans Andrew Garven, Travis Demeza, Adam Collins and opener James Stedman also make their way into the squad. The inclusion of Nitin Dravid, Matt Luff and Zac Gelman shows a move toward youth by the selectors, as they try out the sophomore talent. Tarick Weber and Paddy Gundry join Richards as the spinners in the squad.
Perhaps the biggest surprise is the inclusion of Shan Jasotharan, so long ignored due to attitude reasons. He will fight with Chaulk for rights of glovework. Kingsley Clapham and Kev Goughy have been included as provisional members as they will only be eligible for the one-day portion of the series.
Given the nature of the disciplinary action against them, the CWBCC has allowed the inclusion of Demeza and Stedman.
