Solid knock from KP, dont think he really felt like hanging around after copping that short ball - looked in a reasonable amount of pain, has possibly broken a rib or something like that.

its an annoying total.. fast outfield and not really any demons in the pitch though... but we dont have Hogg or Lee down the order 
we have to be very wary of Lewis i reckon

242 would be a reasonable score with a good bowling attack on this wicket I think. Unfortunately for England, I don't think it will be enough under the circumstances. 270 odd would be more defendable, though with enough early wickets 242 could be dicey as well. Anderson and Lewis will be key.
Wonderful bowling by Johnson today. Getting better all the time in his ODI appearances, and he was the pick of an attack that generally worked pretty well. The middle overs where Johnson and then even Clarke kept it pretty tight really hurt in the long run.
Great knock by Pietersen of course, just lacked a bit of support that could have set up some big acceleration in the late overs.
Funniest moment of the day was easily White's drop. He's usually an excellent fielder too.

Yeah decent second half of the innings by England after some stodgy stuff after Vaughan went out. Pietersen again largely playing a lone hand. Nice cameos by Vaughan and Flintoff although Freddie just couldn't get enough of the strike near the end. A competitive total which gives the bowlers something to bowl at, but less than five an over, against this Aussie team, and with the bowlers England has is never going to be enough. Aussies to get the score in 40 overs....

seeing Pietersen getting nailed by McGrath. I mean, I like watching him bat, but the charging McGrath thing is a) damned cheeky, and b) a bit overdone as a premeditated tactic IMO. There's nothing wrong with being a smart ass and trying to throw a legend off his game, but you've got to then be prepared to be made to look like a total pratt and get dropped on your backside. It will be interesting, if Pietersen has not suffered a serious injury, to see whether he continues giving McGrath and Clark the charge to the same extent in the next few games...
Now I've got another 20 minutes to wait as we get both the 30 minute local bulletin, then the Sydney news before we go back to the cricket. Always seems to be that Aussies are batting second and that Canberra misses out on the pyrotechnics from Gilchrist and Hayden...

It gets overused as an excuse, but it did look as if it came at him directly out of the sun and he was genuinely unsighted. That being said, why the hell wasn't he wearing sunglasses to reduce the chances of that happening???

Thought Collingwood and Bell were very average today. Ok, they're not going to come in and blast it all over like a Gilchrist or a KP, but their workrate on the little singles and turning the strike over was pretty average. Collingwood improved after facing 40 balls to get his eye in, but really you can see why England struggles to post competitive totals.

Collingwood should definitely be at 6, not 5. He's a reasonable finisher and can dig the team out of a hole, but when it comes down to it you'd much rather see Flintoff bat for 25 overs than Collingwood, which is what you should be considering for someone at 5.
