Great stuff, brilliantly played Australia and a wonderful innings by Oram. Can't help feeling a bit gutted though.

This is so fitting for ponting he has paid the price of not selecting hogg. But great performance from kiwis and a special innings from oram , fastest 100 by a kiwi in odi cricket.
Not to sure about that. Clarke and Symonds both did pretty well, it was the seamers who took most of the brunt of Oram's agression.

All over. Excellent performance from both the teams.
Jacob Oram created an excellent show and that should let the team sping to confidence for their next match..

He played like one of my favourite player use to "LANCE ZULLU KLUSNER" i think that pretty much sums it up the way he played.

"The great man" as Fleming said...Glenn McGrath's penultimate over was sensational really and probably won the game as much as Hayden and Punter but Oram's innings was spectacularly good

Surprisingly harsh comments from Ponting about the death bowling, really. Sure, Oram and McCullum put them under pressure, but I didn't feel like the wheels came off, and for the most part I thought they kept their heads pretty well. I suppose he could have meant Johnson, who did lose it a bit.

How exactly did Ponting pay the price? Australia won the game. In hindsight, the selection of Hogg would have been a good one (not only because the pitch turned, but because Oram scored the bulk on NZ's runs and he is a much better player of pace than spin..) but your obsession with trying to blame everything that goes wrong in the Australian team with the fact that Hogg isn't playing is becoming very tiresome. I rate Hogg but with Symonds, Clarke and White occupying batting spots at the moment, and the superb start to the ODI career of Mitchell Johnson, it makes perfect sense to go with four seamers more times than not.

Its fair to say that clarke and symo did a fair job of it with the ball. But if an accomplished spinner in hogg would have played he would have attacked oram and maybe he could have also got his wicket. There was never anything in that pitch for fast bowlers so it was a pretty obvious blunder by the aussies.
